Batball Open West Edition

KAMPALA - Batball Uganda Limited is a registered entity under Companies Act of 2012 of Uganda, with objectives to carve pathways for the talent of Uganda through a grassroots-to-global model, based on progressive cricket tournaments aimed at identification, acceleration, and enrichment of worthy talented inviduals in designated regions.

Batball Uganda Limited in partnership with Uganda Cricket Association, Cricket for Development and India Juris is organizing a Regional BATBALL OPEN Tournament in Mpigi to recognize talent and supplement the regional infrastructure of Cricket in respective regions with the Western region being the Fifth to benefit from this. UCA's support to the tournament is a demonstration of their commitment to sustainable development of cricket in the country.

Batball is desirous of regional participation to maximize value creation, value transfer, impact, and an ardent desire to put Western Uganda on the global Cricket map.

Batball believes the Western Region and Cricket go a long way, and with this tournament Western Region would again come on the Global radar with worthy players going for Global Exchange Programs, International and National U-19 tournaments, and Batball Regionals with greater global impact, viewership, and scope.

The BATBALL OPEN WEST edition, first of it's kind, will run over the weekend on 7th-8th Day of April, 2023 with 9 matches played at Serenity Oval, Kamengo and 4 teams constituting top young Cricketing Talent in the region, amidst local crowds and TV viewship globally.

The four teams that shall be competing in BATBALL OPEN WEST EDITION are;

Kanyonza: Blair Nyesigamukama, Paul Asasiira, Gift Aijuka, Raymond Nuwahereza, Travor Atuhaire, Ephraim Kambale, Breeze Balyebuga, Fransisco Masereka, Jotham Kule, Araphat Matovu, Rayan Tendo, Hassan Kizito, Quraish Kavuma, James Muhindo, Oscar Nankunda(Coach).

Oruyongoyongo: Blair Asiimwe, Irvine Ashaba, Innocent Aijuka, Kweizera Enosi, Kenneth Bataringaya, Aron Bakengana, Exavior Bwambale, Jonas Kule, Katibu Isingoma, Emmanuel Odeke, Nazirah Kigwe, Fahad Ssekito, Rayan Junju, Cosmas Thembo, Phillip Murungi(coach).

Entuuha:Aaron Katwesigye, Ignitious Tumusiime, Brian Nasasira, Darren Ampaire, Cliff Musunguzi, Egizile Mumbere, Festo Bwambale, Moses Isingoma, Robert Thembo, Mohammad Matovu, Kakaire Nelson Nyende, Victor Anthony Ssuna, Mumbere Lameck, Samuel Mumbere, Wagubi Perez(coach).

Enyawawa: Christable Abenaitwe, Ethan Tajo, Brian Ntungire, Gabriel Fataki, Kayebe Joshua, Landus Bwambale, Victor Muhindo, Ronald Bwambale, Lugasa Abdulhakim, Amudhan Mugalu, Ashiraf Ssentume, Guraish Nsubuga, Regan Kule, Robert Kule, Kule(coach).

These names have been derived from birds that are common to the region so that the locals can identity with the teams. The teams will compete in a ten overs a side format with the winner walking away with the Grand Prize.

Individual winners will also be rewarded on the day.

The best 16 players of the BATBALL OPEN WEST edition will progress to the next challenge, where they shall meet respective best players from other regions to compete in BATBALL X later this year which is an inter-regional event.

BATBALL OPEN WEST EDITION is intended to create a social impact tagged ' KEEP PERSONAL HYGIENE' through various direct and indirect impact activities.

A Local Organizing Committee, soundly led by dynamic Mr. Nanga Yusuf, has been constituted and will be responsible for running the event. Cricket is simple, fun and for everyone. This is the atmosphere that will be created during this tournent. Everyone is invited to be part of this experience which is the first of it's kind in the region.
