The Chairperson, NRM Electoral Commission Dr. Tanga Odoi calls upon all NRM members to express interest for the position of NRM flag bearer for Member of Parliament to the East African Legislative Assembly for the 2022-2027 term of office.

There are six(6) positions for election to EALA. In line with Rule 10 of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus Rules of Procedure, the NRM Electoral Commission hereby calls for expression of interest.

For one to be eligible to contest for Member of Parliament to EALA on NRM Ticket, one must meet the following minimum requirements;

i) Must be a Ugandan Citizen.
ii) Must be 18 yeara and above.
iii) Must have attained education of at least "A" Level OR its equivalent.
iv) Must be a Member of the NRM party.
v) Must not be a public servant.
vi) Must not be a member of the armed forces i.e. the Army, Police and Prisons.
vi) Must be a Registered Voter in the National Electoral Commission Voters Register.
vii) Must not be a Cultural or Traditional Leader.

*For emphasis, eligibility for candidature to the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda applies.

All NRM Members of Parliament are eligible to vote.

Procedure for the Primaries shall be as follows;

i) Any member who wishes to contest for the position of NRM Flag bearer for Member of Parliament to the EALA shall deliver a written expression of interest and updated Curriculum Vitae(CV) to the Chairperson, NRM Electoral Commission at Plot 13, Kyadondo Road starting today Tuesday 28th June at 2:00pm to Thursday 30th June at 5.00pm.

On Friday 1st July 2022, the NRM Electoral Commission shall present names of the interested candidates to the NRM Central Executive Committee which, upon consideration, shall recommend names for election to the NRM Parliamentary Caucus.

The NRM Electoral Commission shall appoint a date, time and place for nomination and election of the Candidates.
