KIGALI - Ugandan striker Favour Nambatya has scored a brace in her first match in Rwanda to inspire Apaer Women Football Club(WFC) to 3-2 win over Rayon Sports. Nambatya recently joined Apaer from Fufa Women’s Super League Champions MUBS’ She Corporate FC.

After Zabayo and Mbappe had given Rayon Sports WFC a 2-0 lead at half time, Nambatya showed why Apaer put faith in her by scoring in the 54th minute before levelling matters in the 70th minute. Cynthia grabbed the winner in the 87th minute to the dismay of the home supporters who accused the home side Rayon Sports of being complacent.

The 21-year-old striker joined the Kigali outfit on a short-term deal. For starters, Apaer Women Football Club is managed by a vocation institution dealing in electricity, building, accounting, computing, among others.

Nambatya was part of the triumphant She Corporate Women Football Club as they clinched the 2021-2022 FUFA Women Super League title. She is a former player at St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende, Masaka SS (Aga Khan), Kawempe Muslim, Muteesa Royal University and lately Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

Nambatya’s club career has seen her feature at Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club, Muteesa Royal University Women Football Club and lately She Corporate Women Football Club.

Last season, she netted 10 goals in the 2021-2022 FUFA Women Super League, five shy from the two joint top scorers in the league; Fazila Ikwaput and Hasifa Nasuuna.

In the CAF Women Champions League (CECAFA Zone qualifiers), she scored as many as six goals. For the current 2022-2023 season, she had so far scored two goals in as many games played.

She is also a member of the senior women national team (Crested Cranes) and has earned five international caps. Nambatya is represented by Livingstone Sports Agency and management.
