Gashumba Rallies Banyarwanda to Vote for President M7 in 2026 Once he Recognizes them as Citizens of Uganda Through his Promised Executive Order.

Finally, following countless meetings between human rights activist Mr. Frank Gashumba the Co-founder of Abavandimwe, a Banyarwanda group in Uganda, meaning brotherhood, and HE. Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhabura Museveni on Issues straining the ethnic group of Banyarwanda, specifically those born within and those that were found inside Uganda after the 8th of Oct, 1962 as per the 1995 constitution, an agreement has been reached to amicably solve the matter.
On Saturday in Kampala, as majority of Banyarwanda turned up from different parts of uganda, in response to a meeting summoned by the chairman of the group, Mr. Gashumba, he mentioned that the solution which the president agreed on is to issue an Executive Order to the officials of NIRA and Internal affairs due to their failure to implementing the law none selectively, were majority of Banyarwanda are being denied their rights, especially to accessibility of the national IDs and Passports.
He, however, appealed to all the Banyarwanda in Uganda not to hesitate voting for president Museveni in the forthcoming general elections soon as the executed order, describing them as citizens of Uganda is put into effect. " You give back to whom that gives you," stressed Gashumba.
“We are not requesting or begging, but we want the officials from the Internal affairs and NIRA not to apply the laws selectively. The constitution of Uganda is very clear that to be Ugandan one must belong the ethnic groups of people that existed in Uganda before the year 1926, were the Banyarwanda belong as number 24. When the Banyarwanda are being interviewed for national documents at those specific offices, the questionnaire changes from ethnic group to parents’ roots and they request for proof if one’s parents lived in Uganda before the year 1926 which is practically impossible to provide such evidence.”
In a statement released, Mr. Gashumba indicates that the council for abavandimwe has from since inception been at the fore front of fighting for the citizenship rights of indigenous Banyararwanda against discrimination, segregation, mistreatment and violation of their citizenship rights by wrong elements at the immigration and NIRA.
It further explains that in answers to an outcry from their community, they have petitioned the Human Rights Commission, Equal opportunities commission, Inspector General of Government , Ministry of Internal Affairs, UCC, the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda , the Parliament of Uganda ,the Leader of Opposition, the President of Uganda and they are assured that the president has resolved to handle the problem and to provide a lasting solution once and for all.
