Mbarara city move on top of FUFA Big League while Kitara FC sign 50 Million Sponsorship deal with Kinyara Sugar

Mbarara City beat Jinja North United 2-0 to move top of the FUFA Big League table at Kakyeka stadium.
Jude Ssemugabi and Henry Kitegenyi were on target for the Ankole Lions to put them one point clear at the summit.
Sadiq Sempiji’s charges put an end to their two games winless run after two consecutive draws.
This was the result that Mbarara City needed after both Kitara FC and NEC dropped points.
Meanwhile, Big League side Kitara FC have last week unveiled Kinyara Sugar as their shirt sponsor. While speaking to the media at the Grand Imperial Hotel, Kinyara Sugar's head of corporate communications Caroline Amongin said the move was necessitated by the numbers football brings in. The 50m shillings deal will cover the period between February to September.
On top of the sponsorship package, Kitara FC realized 21.7 Million shillings as gate collections during the Bunyoro derby between Kitara FC and Booma FC that ended 1-1 at Kigaaya C.O.U Primary School playground in Hoima district. Kitara FC President Deo Kasozi Aheebwa thanked fans, leaders, the media, sponsors and partners that turned up to support the team. He also thanked FUFA for broadcasting the match live on FUFA TV. The money will support some of the club activities in line with the 2022/23 budget. He appealed to fans to come in large numbers on Thursday 23rd February 2023 at the Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe in Jinja.
