NRM Central Executive Committee Applauds Progress in Membership Register Digitization
The endorsement by the Central Executive Committee reflects the NRM's commitment to modernizing its structures and ensuring that no member is left behind. As the party gears up for future electoral and administrative engagements, the digitization of its membership register marks a significant step toward strengthening its foundations and fostering inclusivity.
The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has expressed satisfaction with the progress made in digitising the party’s membership register. CEC, the party’s top decision-making organ, convened for a special meeting yesterday at Maya Nature Resort, chaired by the First National Vice Chairman, Alhajji Moses Kigongo.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the ongoing digitisation efforts, which aim to streamline party membership data and ensure transparency and efficiency in future party activities. Speaking to the press after the session, Hon. Emmanuel Dombo, the NRM Director for Communication, highlighted the committee’s approval of the initiative.
“The committee is pleased about the level we have reached with the members' register,” Hon. Dombo stated, noting that the digitisation process is on track to meet its objectives. He explained that the initiative is part of the NRM's broader strategy to modernize its operations and improve communication and engagement with its members.
CEC resolved to allocate all necessary resources to expedite the completion of the digital register. According to Dombo, the committee set a deadline to finalize the comprehensive membership register by the end of February 2025. This includes capturing the data of all party members, even those who were previously not recorded.
“The register is crucial for the party's upcoming activities and will ensure that every member is accounted for,” Dombo said. He added that this effort would solidify the NRM's position as a forward-thinking and inclusive political organization.
The digitization of the membership register is a key component of the NRM’s preparations for upcoming elections and party activities. By creating a reliable and accessible database, the party aims to enhance internal democracy and foster better engagement with its vast membership base across the country.
Dombo emphasized that the process would also aid in mobilization efforts and provide a solid foundation for future innovations within the party. “This is a step towards a more organized and efficient NRM,” he remarked.
The CEC meeting at Maya Nature Resort also underscored the importance of integrating technology into political party management. By leveraging digital tools, the NRM seeks to address past challenges associated with manual registration systems, such as inaccuracies and data loss.
Party insiders believe that the digitization project will not only streamline internal operations but also position the NRM as a model for other political parties in the region.
