KAMPALA - Ambitious and young Kitara FC’s President Kasozi Deo Aheebwa was left pleased as Dudu Ramadhan converted from the spot in the 85th minute to hand them a narrow 1-0 victory and complete a double over National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) FC in the FUFA Big League match played at Bugolobi Coffee ground.

This is Kitara FC’s second win under tactician Sam Ssimbwa which helped them remain on top of the FUFA Big League standings with 40 points from 20 games with 10 games left before the end of the 2022/23 season.

The top position has in the last two weeks swayed amongst four teams including Kitara, NEC, Police FC and Mbarara City. Heading into Match Day 20 round of fixtures, Kitara FC, NEC FC, and Police FC were all tied on 37 points.

Kyetume held Police FC to a 1-1 while Kataka FC held Mbarara City in a goalless draw which helped Kitara FC consolidate their lead at the top. The Micheal Lukyamuzi coached side (NEC FC) were unbeaten at home before the game and they faced a huge task as they were beaten for the first time at home by Kitara FC who also dominated their first leg meeting with a 2-0 win at Kigaaya playgrounds with David Kasaija and Edson Agondeze scoring.

In other games played, at Midigo playground, Calvary FC beat Ndejje University 3-0 while at Nakisunga ground, Kyetume FC held Police FC to a 1-1 draw. Elsewhere, Kataka FC 0-0 Mbarara City at Mbale Stadium, Lugazi 3-0 Luweero United at Lugazi FC Stadium, Booma FC 0-0 Adjumani TC at Masindi Stadium, Nothern Gateway 1-0 Kaaro Karungi at the Gate Stadium.

On Friday 10, March 2023, FUFA Big League action resumes as Jinja North host Soroti City FC in the Eastern Uganda derby at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe which game will be live on FUFA TV at 4pm.
