Uganda coaches of Tanzanian outfit Singinda Big Stars FC undergo refresher CAF Course

KAMPALA - Two renown Ugandan coaches are undergoing a CAF License A refresher course. The two-day course has seen coaches of Singinda Big Stars FC, a Tanzanian outfit Matia Lule who serves as assistant coach and Kiggundu Stephen Billy, Goal Keeping coach undergo technical training under the guidance of CAF Instructor Mujib Kasule at MUBS Nakawa.

FUFA together with Uganda Football Coaches Association continue to hold a series of refresher courses for CAF Coaching Diploma holders. This is in line with CAF Coaching Convention to which FUFA is a full member after fulfilling the mandatory 8 key criteria and holding the first CAF A Diploma course.

These refresher courses are aimed at keeping coaches up-to-date and stimulating development as per CAF Coaching Convention. At the end of the refresher course, each individual will be registered in the FUFA online system under the new Coaching Database using FIFA Connect System.

The Coaches will be issued a 3-year Coaching License.

At the 26th FUFA EXCO meeting, it was decided that only coaches issued with this 3-year license shall be eligible for FUFA Bench Permit in all FUFA competitions.

Matia Lule as a coach has previously worked with Entebbe FC, KCCA FC, URA FC on the role of assistant head coach, Express FC and Proline FC to mention but a few. He served as the head coach for the U-17 national team (The Cubs), the U-23 (Kobs) as well as an assistant to Sebastian Desabre at the senior team The Uganda Cranes.

Meanwhile, Kiggundu Stephen Billy the expert and experienced coach has previously served the U20(Hippos) Uganda National team during the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations held in Mauritania which was the 16th edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations where Uganda lost to Ghana in the finals.

He also previously coached Vipers SC, a Uganda Premier League outfit owned by Dr.Lawrence Mulindwa, honorary FUFA President and they have just learnt their opponents at the 2023 CAF Champions’ League group stage.

Vipers will face three-time winners Raja Casablanca from Morocco, Horoya AC from Guinea, and Tanzania’s Simba SC in Group C of the 2022-2023 CAF Champions League. The action starts in February.

The Venoms qualified for the group stages for the first time after eliminating five-time champions TP Mazembe in the final qualification round, courtesy of a 4-2 penalty shootout victory.

Fresh graduates from recently completed or currently running CAF Diploma courses shall automatically be eligible for a 3-year license as well that will be issued upon their successful application process.
