The Ugandan Darts Team has been flagged off today by representatives from the National council of sport to go and Participate in the East African Darts tournament in Tanzania.

The Ugandan Darts Team has been flagged off today by representatives from the National council of sport to go and Participate in the East African Darts tournament in Tanzania.

Uganda last participated in this tournament in 2019 where Patrick Ocheng from Police Darts Club won the Tanzania Open. Also Namuganyi Maria(Police) and Asuga Winnie won the team game in the ladies category.

According to Tabalo Alex David Vice Chairman Uganda Darts Association, Team Uganda’s mission is to win this tournament although they are aware of arch rivals Kenya’s dominance in the region. Kenya are the defending champions having won the 2019 edition when Uganda reached the Quarter-Finals and also in 2018 when Uganda hosted and finished 2nd. Team Uganda have been in camp undergoing rigorous training and are well prepared. Uganda last won this event in 2007.

Team Uganda has a contingent of 29 players and officials while fans have traveled by road and air to cheer up the team. The team comprises of; Captain: Ndigendawa Agustus (Uganda Wildlife Authority Darts Club), Makanga Sarah (Bank of Uganda Darts Club), Percy Achidri(Uganda Wildlife Authority Darts Club), Odoi John Henry ( Uganda Wildlife Authority Darts Club), Katete Ronald( Prisons Darts Club), Kateregga Patrick( Leisure Tech Darts club), Emumei Andrew (Prisons Darts Club).

Ladies: Vice Captain: Makanga Sarah (Bank of Uganda Darts Club), Namuganyi Maria (Police Darts Club), Amoding Dinah (Prisons Darts Club), Jennipher Kageye (Police Darts Club)

The tournament is slated for June 24th-26th 2022 in Dar Es Saalam , Tanzania. Uganda will also take part in the Tanzania Open Championship.
