MBARARA - Milk giants, Fresh Dairy, has injected Shs 240million in the Fresh Dairy Secondary School Games, 2023 edition which will be hosted by Ntare School in Mbarara City starting May 7th to 15th 2023.

These games include Table Tennis (boys and girls), Rugby (Boys), Tennis (boys and girls), Girls’ football, Badminton (boys and girls) and basketball (boys and girls).

The firm’s Marketing Manager, Vincent Omoth said, said they committed a five-year contract with the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association in 2019 to boost sports in secondary schools countrywide.

“Over the past three editions, Fresh Dairy is pleased to see a progression in secondary school sports through better quality of sports being played now, but also an increase in the number of students and schools participating,” she said.

“This year, Fresh Dairy’s sponsorship will go towards administrative costs for the games to heighten participation and interest in the games both nationally and regionally.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Guest during the unveiling of sponsorship package Rev. Canon Duncans Mugumya, Commissioner Physical Education and Sports said this partnership will go a long way in the human capital development and thanked Fresh Diary for the package. He added that it is a psychomotor domain (which includes physical movement, coordination, and use of the motor-skill areas. Development of these skills requires practice and is measured in terms of speed, precision, distance, procedures, or techniques in execution), which brings good health to the youngsters.

He added that the Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Janet Kainembabazi Museveni/First Lady of Uganda is very happy that the participants majorly youth will be healthy courtesy of Fresh Diary for the weeklong event.

On the other hand, Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) CEO Christopher Mugisa commented Fresh Dairy for the contribution. He added that this is one of the biggest tournaments in the country which will continue attracting more partners. Ever since this partnership started, the levels of the different games have gone up.

He said the number of disciplines to be competed in will remain at seven (7) as in 2022 although the number of teams has increased. Fresh Dairy produces various milk products including; Fresh Milk, Flavoured milk, Long life or UHT milk, powdered milk, yoghurt, butter, ghee and cream.

Table Tennis Girls:

In group A, Mbogo Mixed is with Mt St Mary’s Namagunga, Kings College Buddo and Seeta High School – Mukono.

St Michael International, St Andrews College Ssanda, Sacred Heart Secondary School and Kibuli S.S are all in group B.

Group C has Mbogo College School, Iganga Girls Secondary School, Nabisunga Girls School and Trinity College Nabingo.

In group D, there is Mbogo High School, Kawanda Secondary School, Caltec Academy Makerere and Maryhill High School.

Group A:

Kibuli S.S, Jinja College School, Ubuntu Hill School and Caltec Academy are in group A.

Group B has Kawanda S.S, Busoga College Mwiri, Kings College Buddo and Namilango College.

In group C; St Andrew College Ssanda, Mbogo Mixed School, Seeta High School Green Campus and Mbarara High School.

Group D has St Michael International School, Kakungulu Memorial School, Mbogo College School and Ntare School – Mbarara.
