Real Stars Sports Awards Honor Outstanding Achievements

KAMPALA - In a dazzling ceremony held at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala on Tuesday, November 7, the October 2023 Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Awards celebrated the outstanding achievements of five remarkable sports personalities in Uganda. The gala recognized excellence in football, rugby, basketball, handball, and golf, with each winner receiving not only well-deserved plaques but also cash rewards in acknowledgment of their exceptional performances throughout the busy sporting month.

The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Godfrey Nsubuga, a rising star and member of the Mehta Golf Club in Lugazi, as the golf accolade recipient. Nsubuga, the newly crowned amateur national champion, outshone notable competitors such as professional golfer Ronald Rugumayo and the 2023 ladies' champion, Peace Kabasweka.

Expressing his gratitude, the 24-year-old golf sensation shared, "It is humbling to be recognized and win a plaque that also has cash. I am happy." This marked Nsubuga's fourth Real Stars award, and he extended his accolade collection with a triumph at the Stanbic Entebbe Golf tournament held at the par-71 Entebbe Club.

In the realm of handball, Lillian Achola from Ndejjje University emerged victorious, surpassing teammates Godwin Bingana and Victoria University's Hilda Mary Abangit. Achola's exceptional performance, marked by scoring 29 goals in four games, earned her the top spot, and she expressed her appreciation, stating, "I want to thank the organizers for this. This is my first time, and I would wish to keep the momentum and keep winning."

The football category witnessed Agnes Nabukenya, a player of Kawempe Muslim and the U-20 national team, claim the award, triumphing over competitors such as Gadaffi forward Alex Kitata and NEC's Cromwell Rwothomio. Joan Namusisi, representing Nabukenya, accepted the honor on her behalf.

Basketball and rugby excellence were recognized in the forms of Hope Akello from JKL Dolphins and Grace Auma, respectively. Auma's stellar performance placed her ahead of competitors Peace Lekuru and Sandra Lona, while Akello topped the nominees Titus Odeke Lual and Perus Nyamwenge.

The Real Stars Sports Agency, celebrating its fifth year since inception, has successfully built momentum with the monthly awards, according to Executive Director Isaac Mukasa. He expressed pride in the agency's achievements, announcing plans for a grand celebration in December 2023. Mukasa remarked, "We are marking five years of existence; the monthly awards have continued to garner steam. We shall hold a mega celebration in the coming month."

The Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Awards stand as a testament to the commitment of the organization in recognizing and rewarding sporting excellence. The cash rewards serve as a bold motivation for sports personalities who tirelessly dedicate themselves to their craft on the field of play.
