MUBS Secures Second Consecutive Victory in Pepsi University Football League

NAKAWA - In the ongoing quest for a third university title, MUBS (Makerere University Business School) showcased their prowess by clinching a hard-fought victory against IUIU (Islamic University in Uganda) with a scoreline of 1-0, scored by their captain, Thomas Lasu in the 54th minute. The Nakawa-based MUBS team demonstrated resilience and strategic play to register their second win in the Pepsi University Football League. The Wednesday fixture proved to be a challenging encounter, with IUIU putting up a commendable performance. Despite IUIU appearing to be the stronger side during the game, MUBS managed to secure the crucial three points with a penalty.

Thomas Lasu, a key player for MUBS, was the one who stepped up to take the decisive penalty that ultimately secured the win for the home team. The importance of this victory was not lost on MUBS head coach, William Kasozi. He emphasized the significance of the three points, especially considering their recent challenges in scoring.

"We knew the importance of clinching three points heading into this match. Despite our challenges in scoring recently, which was evident today, we're delighted with the outcome," commented Coach Kasozi.

On the opposing side, IUIU head coach Haruna Keba acknowledged the tough loss for his team. He highlighted the positive aspects of their performance, indicating that their overall play and the number of chances created suggested they should have emerged victorious. However, he acknowledged the need for improvement in decision-making near the goal and expressed optimism for a stronger showing in their next outing.

"It's a tough loss. Our performances and the number of chances we had suggested we should've come out on top. We need to refine our decision-making near the goal and aim for a stronger showing next time," said Coach Keba.

As the Pepsi University Football League unfolds, MUBS, with two wins out of two, stands as a formidable contender in their pursuit of a third university title. The resilience displayed in securing victories, even when faced with challenges, bodes well for their aspirations in the remainder of the competition. The journey continues, and MUBS looks poised to make a significant impact in the quest for football glory on the university stage.

MUBS will next play Victoria University in their next game while IUIU will next play YMCA in Mbale in their next game.
