Sea Robbers Host the 3rd Leg of Rujumba 7s

Rugby in Uganda is experiencing rapid growth, fostering the development of raw talent within the country's sporting community. Among the teams showcasing their prowess on the rugby scene is the Mavin Odongo-led Sea Robbers Rugby Club. With an impressive record since their victory in the Nile Special Premiership in May, a third circuit win at the upcoming Rujumba 7s would solidify their dominance in the sport.

The Stanbic Black Pirates, however, are the team to beat in the Nile Special 7s. Having claimed victories in the Jinja and Kitgum legs, they remain a formidable force on the circuit. As the third leg approaches, the Sea Robbers prepare to host their own Rujumba 7s at the King Park Arena in Bweyogerere.

Mavin Odongo, who has been a key player for the Sea Robbers, could lead his team to another triumph, building on their recent successes. The team's star-studded lineup, filled with dependable players who consistently rise to the occasion, has been instrumental in their achievements thus far.

In the Stone City 7s, Timothy Kisiga exhibited his prowess and earned the MVP honors, while Arnold Atukunda followed suit at the Kitgum 7s. The Sea Robbers' excellent form has left their competitors struggling to find effective strategies to stop them.

Pirates captain, Isaac Massanganzira, attributed their success to hard work, team unity, and determination. Confident in their abilities, the team's focus is firmly set on clinching the 7s title once again, this time on their home turf.

Currently, Kobs is trailing in second place, eight points behind Pirates. While it is not too late for them to stage a comeback, they will need to make a strong statement in the upcoming games. Their victory at the Rujumba 7s last year brought them back on track after previous setbacks, but a rematch against Pirates in the semifinals this weekend will be a stern test.

The women's race to the Nile Special 7s has Black Pearls and Avengers tied at 39 points each after two legs, with Thunderbird close behind at 38 points. Nile Rapids is currently at the bottom with 30 points, promising an exciting and closely contested competition.

As the rugby action unfolds at the King Park Arena, some notable top try scorers are Arnold Atukunda, who leads the chart with 14 tries, and Timothy Kisiga with 12 tries, both from the Pirates. Kobs' Mark Osuna and Pius Ogena are also noteworthy with 10 tries each.

The teams are divided into pools for the upcoming Rujumba 7s:

  • Pool A: Pirates, Buffaloes, Boks, Stallions
  • Pool B: Hippos, Rhinos, Warriors, Kyambogo
  • Pool C: Kobs, Walukuba, Mongers, Sailors
  • Pool D: Heathens, Impis, Rams, Mubs

In conclusion, the Sea Robbers Rugby Club prepares to host the third leg of the Rujumba 7s at the King Park Arena, Bweyogerere, Uganda. With Pirates leading the Nile Special 7s and Sea Robbers aiming for another circuit win, the competition promises to be intense and action-packed. Fans and rugby enthusiasts eagerly await the thrilling clashes between these talented teams as they vie for victory in this prestigious rugby tournament.
