Bebe Cool Hails Son Alpha Ssali After Express FC Man-of-the-Match Display, Awarded by Mum’s Zuena Cakes

Ugandan music star Bebe Cool has expressed pride in his son, Alpha Ssali, after the young forward was named Express FC’s Fans’ Man of the Match following Thursday night’s 1-1 draw against Kitara FC in the Uganda Premier League.

The Matchday Four encounter was played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on September 17, 2026, with Express FC coming from behind to secure a point against Kitara.

Kitara took the lead through Frank “Zagga” Tumwesigye in the first half before Express levelled through Nicholas Jjonga shortly before the break. The two sides were unable to find a winning goal in the second half and shared the points.

Alpha Ssali started the match for the Red Eagles and was among the players who threatened the Kitara defence throughout the contest. He came close to putting Express ahead in the second half when his volley narrowly missed the target.

Despite the draw, his individual performance earned recognition from Express supporters, who voted him their Man of the Match.

The recognition was particularly significant for the youngster, who is still establishing himself at the club. According to his father, the Kitara game was only Alpha's fourth appearance for Express FC, making the early recognition a notable milestone in his development.

Reacting to his son's performance, Bebe Cool focused on the importance of trust and the opportunity given to Alpha by Express FC head coach Morley Byekwaso.

“Life is about trust. ” 

Bebe Cool thanked Express FC and specifically Coach Byekwaso for believing in his son and giving him the opportunity to develop his football career.

He also praised Alpha for making an impact despite being at the early stages of his time with the club. 

“Just his fourth game for the club, and already he is making his mark — helping secure a crucial draw and being named Express Fans’ Man of the Match against Kitara FC.”

The musician encouraged his son to remain focused and grounded as he continues his football journey.

“Alpha, I'm so proud of you. Stay humble, keep working hard and keep believing. This is only the beginning.”

Bebe Cool concluded his message with a personal show of support for the young footballer, saying:

“Well in, my boy.”

The draw leaves Express FC with four points from four matches in the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season. The Red Eagles had opened their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to BUL, followed by a 2-0 victory over KCCA and a 2-0 loss to SC Villa before Thursday's draw with Kitara.

For Alpha Ssali, the Man-of-the-Match recognition provides another positive moment as he continues to gain experience and establish himself in Express FC's squad under Byekwaso.

With his father publicly expressing pride in his progress, attention will now remain on how the youngster develops as the season continues.
