Todwong Closes NRM Secretariat Retreat, Calls for Unity and Stronger Party Performance

National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong has called for greater unity, teamwork and discipline among senior members of the party’s Secretariat as the ruling party seeks to strengthen its structures and improve performance across all areas.

Todwong made the call while closing a week-long retreat for senior members of the NRM Party Secretariat held at Kigambira Safari Lodge, near Lake Mburo National Park.

The retreat provided an opportunity for the party’s senior leadership to reflect on its work, assess its performance and renew its commitment to building a more effective organisation capable of serving its members and the people of Uganda.

In his closing message, Todwong emphasised the importance of a united team working towards a common vision, noting that cooperation, shared responsibility and a clear sense of purpose are essential to strengthening the party’s institutional capacity.

“A united team is a stronger team,” Todwong said, stressing that working together with a shared vision, discipline and purpose would help build a more effective pro-people party.

He underscored the need for the Secretariat to consolidate teamwork and improve coordination among its members to ensure that the party’s programmes, structures and activities deliver the desired results.

The Secretary General’s message placed unity and collective responsibility at the centre of the party’s efforts to enhance its organisational effectiveness and strengthen its relationship with members and communities across the country.

The retreat also offered senior Secretariat officials an opportunity to reflect on their individual and collective responsibilities in advancing the NRM’s objectives, with renewed emphasis on cooperation and institutional performance.

Todwong reiterated the importance of strengthening the party’s structures to make them more responsive to the needs of members and the wider Ugandan population.

His remarks highlighted the Secretariat’s role in providing effective coordination, supporting party structures and ensuring that the NRM remains organised and focused on its stated mission.

The week-long engagement at Kigambira Safari Lodge concluded with a renewed call for the Secretariat team to translate its reflections into practical action, improve working relationships and pursue the party’s objectives with discipline and commitment.

As the NRM continues to advance its political and organisational agenda, Todwong’s message reinforced the importance of unity, teamwork and a shared vision in building a stronger and more effective party.
