Uganda Hosts French and Spanish Media Influencers to Boost Tourism

In a strategic move to position Uganda as a top travel destination for French and Spanish speaking tourists, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Uganda’s Embassy in France, has launched a familiarization trip for top media influencers from France and Spain.

The initiative, running from March 9 to 15, 2025, aims to provide firsthand experiences of Uganda’s breathtaking attractions, enhancing the country's visibility in key European markets.

At a press briefing held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala, Uganda’s Ambassador to France, Doreen Ruth Amule, underscored the significance of the initiative.

Uganda, The Pearl of Africa, is brimming with natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and rich culture. This collaboration with French and Spanish influencers will allow us to share these experiences with the world, helping to expand Uganda’s recognition as a must-visit destination,” she said.

The team of influencers, led by Ertan Anadol and comprising Henry Mallaury, India Romeuf, Lucas Cyril Samuel, Jolivet Kilian Nicolas, Labesse Lola Marie Suzanne, Radet Jonathan George’s Adrien, Nanche Augustin Claudius Daniel, Caballero Navarrete Sara, and Guillen Brinceno Juan Carlos, arrived in Uganda and attended the media briefing.

They are part of TANKE, a Paris based influencer marketing agency known for executing high impact campaigns that engage global audiences.

These influencers will document and share their experiences across social media platforms, blogs, and videos, highlighting Uganda’s unique tourism offerings.

Their itinerary includes gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, wildlife safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and adventure activities along the Nile River.

They will also immerse themselves in Uganda’s cultural heritage by engaging with local communities and experiencing traditional Ugandan cuisine.

Margaret Kafeero, Head of Public Diplomacy, emphasized the importance of the visit, stating that the collaboration would strengthen Uganda’s tourism promotion efforts in French and Spanish-speaking markets.

“This initiative will not only enhance Uganda’s global image but also encourage more creative engagements, particularly among the youth, and foster long term relationships that promote the country’s tourism and culture,” she noted.

Lilly Ajarova, CEO of UTB, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to host these skilled media influencers in Uganda. Their presence will not only enhance Uganda’s visibility but also position us as a premier travel destination in the French and Spanish-speaking markets.”

Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Bagiire Vincent Waiswa, highlighted Uganda’s appeal as a travel destination. “From our favorable climate to our diverse cultures and the warmth of our people, Uganda is ready to welcome the world. This familiarization trip is a crucial step in showcasing Uganda’s tourism potential,” he said.

This initiative aligns with Uganda’s broader strategy to expand its tourism sector by attracting visitors from Europe. By sharing Uganda’s landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and hospitality, the campaign aims to establish the country as a top-tier travel destination for years to come.
