Kadodi Karnival Returns for 5th Edition with a Vibrant Celebration of Bamasaba Culture at UMA Show Grounds
Organized as an annual cultural showcase, the Kadodi Karnival continues to cement its reputation as a powerful platform aimed at exporting the rich traditions of the Bamasaba people to other regions, particularly Uganda’s Central region. Over the years, the event has evolved into a cultural movement that celebrates identity, unity, and artistic expression.
The highly anticipated 5th edition of the Kadodi Karnival is set to take place this Saturday, 2nd May, at the iconic UMA Show Grounds, promising an electrifying fusion of culture, music, and heritage.
Organized as an annual cultural showcase, the Kadodi Karnival continues to cement its reputation as a powerful platform aimed at exporting the rich traditions of the Bamasaba people to other regions, particularly Uganda’s Central region. Over the years, the event has evolved into a cultural movement that celebrates identity, unity, and artistic expression.
At the heart of the festival is the vibrant Kadodi dance—an energetic and rhythmic tradition synonymous with the Bamasaba of Eastern Uganda. From the early hours of the morning until late into the night, attendees will be treated to nonstop drumming, dancing, and immersive cultural experiences.
The karnival offers far more than just entertainment. Guests will experience an authentic display of Bamasaba heritage through traditional dressing, indigenous crafts, and local delicacies, including the famed malwa. Coffee, one of the region’s prized agricultural products, will also feature prominently as part of the exhibition, highlighting its cultural and economic significance.
This year’s edition boasts an exciting lineup of performers and hosts, blending mainstream Ugandan entertainment with strong cultural representation.
Among the headline acts is celebrated songstress Winnie Nwagi, alongside fast-rising talents such as Astar95 and Mr Bwasha. Fans will also be treated to a live performance by Sheilah Price, as well as appearances from Rexy Umasije.
The event will be steered by a dynamic team of emcees, led by MC Izak King as the main host, supported by MC Jesse and MC Hopkins, ensuring a lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the day.
In addition to the live performances, top DJs are expected to keep the crowd energized, while powerful Kadodi cultural troupes will deliver captivating performances that embody the spirit of Masaba land.
Tickets for the event are priced at UGX 20,000 for ordinary access at the gate, while VIP experience is set at UGX 200,000, offering guests a more exclusive and comfortable festival environment.
As the countdown begins, anticipation is building for what promises to be one of the most colorful cultural events on Kampala’s social calendar.
