Hon. Ruhindi Backs Muhoozi 2031 Bid, Urges Leaders to Lead by Example in Fighting Corruption
Addressing participants at the event, Hon. Ruhindi commended the CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Museveni for what he described as efforts to promote political hygiene in Uganda's leadership, emphasising that the fight against corruption should go beyond public statements and political criticism.
Nakawa East Member of Parliament Hon. Fredrick Ruhindi has called for greater political integrity and accountability among leaders, saying the fight against corruption should begin with individual leaders demonstrating honesty and good conduct in their public and private lives.
Hon. Ruhindi made the remarks while attending a function organised by the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Nakawa Chapter in Kiswa, where supporters endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Museveni for the presidency in 2031.

Addressing participants at the event, Hon. Ruhindi commended the CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Museveni for what he described as efforts to promote political hygiene in Uganda's leadership, emphasising that the fight against corruption should go beyond public statements and political criticism.
"One thing I like about General Muhoozi Kainerugaba Museveni is that he's trying his level best to bring political hygiene in our leadership," Ruhindi said.
He argued that leaders should not limit themselves to condemning corruption but should also demonstrate the values they expect from others, warning that some people who frequently speak out against corruption may themselves fail to uphold the standards of leadership they advocate.
"By the way, we should not only fight corruption; we should also be examples to society ourselves. There are those who actually go ahead and fight and fight and fight when they are actually not good leaders," he said.
Ruhindi further stressed that political hygiene requires consistency between what leaders say and how they conduct themselves, noting that those entrusted with public responsibilities should set standards of integrity for the wider community.
His remarks placed personal responsibility at the centre of the discussion on corruption, suggesting that genuine efforts to promote accountability must be reflected in leaders' own actions rather than simply in their public pronouncements.
The function was attended by several political and administrative leaders, including Madam Sophia Kanyange, Nakawa NRM Chairperson Isima Wagaba, Nakawa Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner Edris Bennesa and area LCIII councillors Thomas Mugyenyi and Naume Nangweso, among other dignitaries.
Ruhindi thanked the PLU Nakawa Chapter for inviting him to the gathering and joined other leaders in endorsing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the 2031 presidential election.
The Nakawa function was part of the PLU's wider endorsement activities in support of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba's proposed presidential bid in 2031, with the organisation conducting mobilisation and collecting endorsements through its structures across the country.
Ruhindi's participation brought together two themes at the event: the endorsement of Kainerugaba and the importance of integrity and accountability in public leadership.
