Wanyoto Brings Bugisu LCV Chairpersons Together Ahead of Gen Muhoozi Endorsement Baraza
The meeting, hosted by Wanyoto, identified as PLU's PO/049, focused on harmonising mobilisation efforts and securing the participation of district leaders in the planned endorsement Baraza at Mbale Cricket Grounds.
Counsel Paul Wanyoto Mugoya has brought together Local Council (LCV) chairpersons from the six districts and Mbale City in Bugisu Sub-region in a strategic meeting aimed at building a united regional position ahead of the planned endorsement of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba on October 24, 2026.
The meeting, hosted by Wanyoto, identified as PLU's PO/049, focused on harmonising mobilisation efforts and securing the participation of district leaders in the planned endorsement Baraza at Mbale Cricket Grounds.

The gathering brought together local government leaders from Sironko, Bulambuli, Bududa, Manafwa, Namisindwa and Mbale District, alongside their counterparts from Mbale City, with the stated objective of presenting a united front in support of Gen. Muhoozi, the son of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
According to information shared by the organisers, the meeting sought to move the mobilisation drive beyond individual political groups and establish a broader regional initiative involving elected district leaders.
Wanyoto pushes for unity
Wanyoto said he convened the meeting because of the importance of working with elected leaders who maintain close relationships with communities across the sub-region.
He described the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) as an organisation intended to strengthen, rather than fight, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), arguing that cooperation among political actors would be important in building support for Gen. Muhoozi.
“I called my brothers, the LCV chairpersons of Bugisu, because I respect them. They are elected by the people,” Wanyoto said.
“I told them — PLU is not here to fight NRM, PLU is here to strengthen NRM. Gen. Muhoozi is a son of President Museveni, he is our next President, and Bugisu must be early to endorse him.”
Wanyoto expressed satisfaction with what he described as an agreement among the leaders to participate in the October 24 event.
“On the 24th, you will see all LCVs on stage, holding Gen. MK's photo. Bugisu is now one,” he added.
His remarks underscored the organisers' ambition to present the endorsement as a collective political position of Bugisu's district leadership rather than an initiative driven by PLU members alone.
Districts tasked with mobilising 1,000 people each
A key outcome announced by the meeting organisers was a proposed mobilisation target of at least 1,000 participants from each of the seven local government areas.
The LCV chairpersons were also reportedly expected to address their respective supporters at the Baraza and publicly express their support for Gen. Muhoozi.
The leaders were further said to have agreed to set aside political differences in pursuit of what the organisers described as a common regional objective.
If achieved, the proposed targets would translate into a minimum of 7,000 participants from the six districts and Mbale City combined.
However, the mobilisation figures remain targets announced by the organisers, and actual attendance will be determined at the event.
The proposed arrangement places district leaders at the centre of the final mobilisation phase, with the organisers seeking to translate political coordination at the leadership level into attendance from villages and communities across Bugisu.
LCV chairpersons' role in regional mobilisation
The participation of LCV chairpersons could provide an important organisational boost to the endorsement campaign because district leaders work with local government structures and have established links with communities.
Their involvement may help the organisers coordinate transport, communication and attendance across the seven local government areas.
Nevertheless, the extent to which the meeting's resolutions translate into actual participation will depend on the mobilisation efforts undertaken in the coming days.
The organisers have presented the meeting as a significant step towards achieving a common political message in Bugisu, where coordination among district leaders could influence the scale and visibility of the October 24 gathering.
Leaders reportedly agree to attend
One of the LCV chairpersons who reportedly attended the meeting, but requested anonymity, praised Wanyoto for bringing the leaders together.
“What Paul Wanyoto has done today to bring us together. We have agreed. On the 24th, we shall be in Mbale City to endorse our next President,” the chairperson was quoted as saying.
“This is no longer PLU alone, this is Bugisu sub-region leadership.”
The remarks reflected the organisers' intention to broaden the endorsement campaign beyond the PLU's own mobilisation structures by involving elected local government leaders from across the region.
The chairperson's identity and the reported resolutions were not independently verified at the time of publication.
PLU seeks to consolidate support for Gen. Muhoozi
The planned Baraza is part of efforts by PLU mobilisers to consolidate support for Gen. Muhoozi in Bugisu ahead of the October 24 gathering.
Wanyoto's intervention comes as the organisers seek to coordinate competing political interests and establish a common platform for the endorsement campaign.
By engaging the LCV chairpersons, the mobilisation team is seeking to draw on the leaders' district-level networks to encourage participation and give the event a wider regional profile.
The organisers also hope the presence of senior local government leaders will demonstrate the level of political support they claim to be building for Gen. Muhoozi.
However, the meeting's reported resolutions should not be taken as proof that every resident or political constituency in Bugisu supports the endorsement. The positions attributed to the participating leaders do not necessarily represent the views of all voters in the sub-region.
October 24 Baraza to test mobilisation efforts
All eyes are now on Mbale Cricket Grounds, where the organisers expect leaders and supporters from the seven local government areas to converge on October 24.
The event is expected to provide an opportunity for PLU mobilisers and participating leaders to publicly articulate their support for Gen. Muhoozi and demonstrate the progress of their regional mobilisation campaign.
For Wanyoto, the immediate challenge will be translating the reported agreement into visible participation and maintaining cooperation among leaders with different political interests.
Whether the proposed target of at least 7,000 participants is achieved, and whether all the LCV chairpersons appear as anticipated, will offer a practical measure of the campaign's organisational reach.
The meeting has therefore placed Wanyoto at the centre of an effort to unite Bugisu's district leadership around the planned endorsement, with October 24 emerging as the next major test of the organisers' mobilisation strategy.
