NRM Launches 2024–2027 Political Roadmap, Announces New Register and Nomination Fees Structure

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially launched its 2024–2027 Political Roadmap ahead of the 2025/2026 general elections, marking a significant step in organizing party structures and internal democratic processes.
The launch was guided by the NRM Secretary General, with Commissioner William James Kinobe, the party spokesperson Rosemary Namayanja among others addressing the press.
For the first time in the party’s history, the NRM has compiled an official membership register, recording over 20 million members. However, only 19 million of these are eligible to vote, as they are aged 18 and above.
Kinobe, emphasized that participation in the party’s electoral activities will be strictly limited to those who appear in this new register. “There will be no excuses. Anyone not registered in the Yellow Book will not participate in the NRM internal elections,” he said.
He added that to reduce campaign expenditures and avoid conflict among aspirants, the party plans to conduct joint campaign rallies across various regions. And a communication mechanism is being developed to improve coordination between candidates and voters, ensuring clarity and minimizing misunderstandings during the electoral process.
The roadmap outlines key dates for party activities. April 24th will mark the beginning of the expression of interest by aspiring candidates; May 24 will be the date for Special Interest Groups; and July 16 will be the nomination date for NRM parliamentary flag bearers.
As part of the roadmap launch, the party also released the nomination fees structure for individuals seeking the NRM ticket at various levels.
According to the party, the nomination fees are as follows. Chairman NRM – UGX 20 million, First Vice Chairperson – UGX 10 million, Regional Vice Chairpersons – UGX 5 million.
Member of Parliament – UGX 3 million, Lord Mayor – UGX 1.5 million, Lord Councilors – UGX 1 million, City Councilors – UGX 500,000, City Division Mayors – UGX 1 million, Municipal Mayors – UGX 750,000, Municipal Division Councilors – UGX 100,000, Chairperson LC5 – UGX 1 million, LC5 Councilors – UGX 200,000, Chairperson LC1 – UGX 10,000, and Sub-County Councilors – UGX 20,000.
