As Uganda gears up for the 2025/2026 General Elections, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has commenced internal preparations, including the nomination process for party positions. The NRM National Treasurer, Hon. Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo, has officially released the fees structure that all aspiring candidates must adhere to in order to express their interest and be nominated to stand in various positions within the NRM party structures.

Hon. Nekesa began by reminding the public of the official nomination fees set by the Independent Electoral Commission for the different elective positions in the general elections. According to the Electoral Commission guidelines, the following fees apply:

Presidential aspirants: UGX 20 million

Members of Parliament: UGX 3 million

Lord Mayors: UGX 1.5 million

City Councilors: UGX 500,000

Lord Councillors: UGX 1 million

LC V Chairpersons: UGX 1 million

LC V Councilors: UGX 200,000

City Division Mayors: UGX 1 million

Municipal Mayors: UGX 750,000

Municipal and Division Councilors: UGX 100,000

Sub-county, Town Council, Division, and Municipal Local Government Chairpersons: UGX 20,000

Sub-county, Town Council, Division, and Municipal Councilors: UGX 20,000

LC I Chairpersons: UGX 10,000

Turning to the internal party positions, Hon. Nekesa outlined the nomination fees for those seeking to contest for leadership within the NRM structures. These are as follows:

NRM National Executive Committee Positions:

NRM National Chairman: UGX 20 million

NRM 1st National Vice Chairman (Male): UGX 10 million

NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female): UGX 10 million

NRM National Vice Chairpersons (Eastern, Northern, Western, Karamoja, Central, and Kampala Regions): UGX 5 million

NRM Leagues – National Level:

NRM League Chairpersons at National Level: UGX 1 million

Other Executive League Members at National Level: UGX 500,000

District and City Level:

NRM District and City Mainstream Chairpersons: UGX 500,000

District/City Vice Chairpersons, General Secretaries, Publicity Secretaries, and Secretaries for Finance: UGX 50,000

District and City League Chairpersons and other League Executives: UGX 100,000

Municipality and Division Level:

Municipality or City Division Mainstream Chairpersons: UGX 200,000

Municipal, City Division League Chairpersons: UGX 50,000

Sub-county Level:

NRM Sub-county Mainstream Chairpersons: UGX 50,000

Hon. Nekesa emphasized that all nomination fees must be paid only through Centenary Bank Ltd, Lugogo Branch, using Account Number: 3100009003. She warned NRM members to be cautious and avoid fraudsters, noting that the NRM Secretariat has already communicated the official fee structures to all District Administrative Secretaries.

She called on all members of the NRM who intend to serve in leadership positions to demonstrate integrity and compliance by paying the stipulated fees through the official channel.
