Bugisu PLU Baraza to Offer Free Medical Services, Legal Aid and Membership Registration
Counsel Paul Mugoya Wanyoto, who is hosting the Bugisu regional endorsement event, announced the planned activities during a press conference held at his home in Nabweya, Mbale Northern City Division, ahead of the gathering.
Residents of the Bugisu Sub-region are expected to benefit from free medical services, legal advice and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) membership registration during a regional Baraza scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Mbale City Cricket Ground.
Counsel Paul Mugoya Wanyoto, who is hosting the Bugisu regional endorsement event, announced the planned activities during a press conference held at his home in Nabweya, Mbale Northern City Division, ahead of the gathering.
Wanyoto said the Baraza would combine political mobilisation with community service, offering residents an opportunity to access healthcare, seek guidance on legal matters and register for PLU membership.
“We shall have three key activities, including a free medical camp, a legal camp where people can seek advice on their legal issues, and a camp for registering PLU numbers,” Wanyoto said.
The three initiatives are expected to form a key part of the day's programme as organisers seek to attract residents from across the Bugisu Sub-region to participate in the gathering.
Free medical camp and legal advisory services
The planned medical camp is expected to provide residents with access to free healthcare services, while the legal advisory camp will give participants an opportunity to seek guidance on legal challenges they may be facing.
The membership registration camp, meanwhile, will facilitate the registration of individuals seeking to join the Patriotic League of Uganda and obtain membership numbers.
The organisers said the activities would provide an opportunity to engage residents beyond the political discussions expected at the Baraza.
The event is also part of mobilisation efforts in support of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba's proposed 2031 presidential bid, around which PLU supporters have been organising activities in different parts of the country.
Wanyoto donates mathematics sets to P7 candidates
Ahead of the Baraza, Wanyoto handed over 172 mathematics sets to Primary Seven candidates at North Road Primary School to support their preparations for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
The donation, he said, was made on behalf of Gen. Kainerugaba, with the aim of helping the candidates prepare for their examinations.
Wanyoto wished the learners success as they approach the examinations, with the donation providing them with essential mathematical instruments for their academic work.
The initiative also added an education component to the activities surrounding the regional gathering, highlighting support for learners preparing to complete their primary education.
Organisers declare preparations complete
Abdallah Difee, chairperson of the Baraza organising committee, said preparations for the event had been completed and called on residents from across Bugisu to attend in large numbers.

“We are ready for the event and call upon the people of Bugisu to turn up in large numbers,” Difee said.
Difee's remarks came as organisers made their final appeal to residents to participate in the gathering at Mbale City Cricket Ground.
The event is expected to bring together PLU supporters, local leaders and other residents from the sub-region for the planned community services and endorsement activities.
Security assured ahead of gathering
Mbale Northern City Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner Yahya Were assured the public that security arrangements had been put in place to facilitate a peaceful gathering.

Were encouraged residents to attend without fear but cautioned phone snatchers and other criminals against taking advantage of the anticipated crowds to engage in unlawful activities.
He said security was ready for the event and warned individuals planning to disrupt the endorsement gathering against pursuing such plans.
The deputy RCC urged residents to participate peacefully, while reminding those attending to remain vigilant about their personal belongings in view of the expected large turnout.
PLU coordinator predicts large turnout
Hajji Mukakadi Ismail, the PLU coordinator for the Bugisu Sub-region, commended the mobilisation team for its efforts in preparing for the gathering.

Mukakadi expressed confidence that the mobilisation carried out in the lead-up to the event would translate into a significant turnout, predicting that Mbale could record a large attendance.
He also called on residents who identify with the ideals of patriotism to attend the Baraza and participate in the day's activities.
His appeal came as organisers sought to bring together supporters and residents from across the sub-region for the endorsement event and the accompanying community service initiatives.
Political mobilisation and community outreach
The Bugisu Baraza brings together political mobilisation, public engagement and planned community services at a time when supporters of Gen. Kainerugaba are seeking to build support around his proposed 2031 presidential bid.
The provision of free medical services, legal advice and PLU membership registration is expected to be among the main attractions for residents attending the gathering.
For Wanyoto and the organising team, the event also presents an opportunity to engage communities across Bugisu while demonstrating support for the PLU's mobilisation activities.

With preparations declared complete and security assurances issued, organisers have called on residents to turn up in large numbers at Mbale City Cricket Ground on Saturday, October 24, for the scheduled Baraza.
The actual attendance and uptake of the planned services will become clearer as the event unfolds.
