PLU Strengthens Grassroots Mobilisation as General Secretary Meets Adjumani Leaders

Kampala, Uganda – The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has intensified its nationwide grassroots mobilisation drive following a high-level consultative meeting between the organisation's General Secretary, Rt. Hon. Twalla Fadil, and National Resistance Movement (NRM)/PLU leaders and mobilisers from Adjumani District.

The meeting, held yesterday afternoon, underscored PLU's continued commitment to strengthening its grassroots structures, enhancing community engagement, and promoting effective coordination between national and district leadership as the organisation expands its presence across Uganda.

The Adjumani delegation was led by Hon. Daniel Izale, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Adjumani West Constituency, and comprised local leaders and mobilisers dedicated to advancing the shared ideals and objectives of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the Patriotic League of Uganda.

The consultative engagement focused on strategies to enhance grassroots mobilisation, strengthen local organisational structures, and improve collaboration between PLU's national leadership and district-based teams. Participants discussed ways of increasing citizen participation in programmes that promote peace, unity, patriotism, and national development while ensuring that communities remain actively involved in the country's socio-economic transformation.

Addressing the delegation, Rt. Hon. Twalla Fadil applauded the Adjumani leadership for its unwavering commitment to grassroots mobilisation and community service.

He emphasised that strong local leadership remains the foundation of any successful political and civic organisation, urging mobilisers to remain disciplined, people-centred, and committed to serving their communities.

He noted that effective mobilisation requires continuous engagement with citizens, listening to their concerns, and ensuring that the movement's message reaches every village and community. According to the General Secretary, building resilient grassroots networks is essential for promoting national unity, strengthening public participation, and supporting Uganda's long-term development agenda.

Twalla further encouraged the district leaders to continue working collectively while maintaining close coordination with the national leadership. He stressed that unity, discipline, and consistent communication are vital ingredients for sustaining an effective grassroots movement capable of responding to the aspirations of ordinary Ugandans.

Leading the Adjumani delegation, Hon. Daniel Izale reaffirmed the district leadership's commitment to supporting PLU's vision and working closely with the organisation's national leadership. He pledged that mobilisers in Adjumani would continue strengthening community structures and promoting programmes that encourage patriotism, socio-economic transformation, and inclusive development.

Izale noted that regular engagement between national leaders and grassroots structures is critical in ensuring that local communities remain informed, involved, and empowered to contribute to national progress. He also expressed appreciation to the PLU leadership for creating platforms that allow district leaders to share experiences, discuss challenges, and collectively identify practical solutions.

The meeting concluded with renewed commitments from both the national leadership and district representatives to deepen collaboration, strengthen mobilisation efforts, and enhance organisational efficiency across all levels.

The consultative engagement forms part of the Patriotic League of Uganda's broader nationwide mobilisation strategy, which seeks to reinforce grassroots structures through regular interactions with leaders, mobilisers, and supporters from different regions of the country. Through such engagements, the organisation aims to promote unity, strengthen local leadership, and encourage greater citizen participation in initiatives designed to foster peace, patriotism, and sustainable national development.

As PLU continues expanding its organisational footprint across Uganda, the leadership says regular consultations with district leaders will remain central to building a cohesive movement anchored on service, discipline, unity, and grassroots empowerment.
