Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga: “Rotary is Doing Unlimited Good”
Speaking during the meeting at Bulange Mengo, the Katikkiro praised Rotary’s far-reaching impact despite operating with limited resources.
“With limited resources, Rotary is doing unlimited good,” he said. These words captured the very ethos of Rotary—ordinary people doing extraordinary things in service to humanity.
He specifically lauded Rotary’s youth-focused skilling initiative, Vijana Poa, environmental campaigns such as Kibira kya Kabaka, and healthcare outreach through the floating hospital by the Rotary Club of Kampala Ssese Islands. The Katikkiro also emphasized the values of unity, humility, and patience, noting that they are essential virtues in solving Uganda’s pressing societal challenges.
In his remarks, District Governor Geoffrey Martin Kitakule emphasized the success of the #RotaryEyamba campaign, which has brought visibility to countless community service initiatives across the region. He cited the Centre of Excellence in Kira Municipality, a flagship project implemented in partnership with Buganda, as a shining example of what shared vision can accomplish.
The District Governor respectfully requested the Kingdom’s support in opening its media platforms, including CBS FM and BBS TV, to help amplify these impactful stories. “We want the people of Buganda and Uganda at large to see that transformational change is possible when we work together,” he noted.
District Conference 101 Invitation
To further cement this partnership, Governor Kitakule formally invited the Katikkiro to the Rotary District 9213 Conference (DISCON 101), scheduled to take place at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe from April 16th to 18th, 2026. The event will bring together Rotarians, partners, and thought leaders to reflect on service achievements, strategize future projects, and celebrate the spirit of Rotary.
Unity in Service, Strength in Partnership
The meeting between District Governor Kitakule and Katikkiro Mayiga symbolizes more than a ceremonial visit—it reaffirms a growing alliance rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and a collective desire to uplift Ugandan communities. Through strategic partnerships, bold leadership, and faith in service, Rotary and the Buganda Kingdom are proving that doing good together is truly transformational.
The Governor eloquently stated, “I reaffirm my commitment to serve boldly, guided by God, and to grow partnerships that transform lives.” This visit marked yet another chapter in the impactful journey of Rotary District 9213—a journey driven by service above self.
