Santa Sandra Alum Ogwang Seeks Another Term as Oyam District Woman MP on UPC Ticket

The political tide in Oyam District is gaining momentum as Hon. Santa Sandra Alum Ogwang, the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament, officially picked nomination forms on Thursday to contest for another term under the Uganda People's Congress (UPC) party.
With a steady hand and a clear vision for her district, Alum’s decision has sent waves of excitement and renewed hope among her supporters and constituents who have witnessed her unwavering dedication to community transformation over the years.
Speaking after receiving the nomination forms at the UPC headquarters in Kampala, Alum reaffirmed her commitment to championing the voices of the people of Oyam, promising to continue advocating for improved healthcare, education, women's empowerment, and infrastructural development.
“I am not done. There is still work to do. My people deserve continuity in service, progress in development, and a voice that will not be silenced at the national table. I am stepping forward again not just to campaign, but to continue serving,” she said passionately.
Under her leadership, Oyam District has seen notable progress including better access to maternal healthcare services, increased school enrolment for the girl child, and youth livelihood programs that have empowered hundreds of young people.
Residents of Oyam have already expressed strong support for Alum’s bid, citing her accessibility, humility, and results oriented approach as qualities that distinguish her from political opportunists.
Her re-election campaign is expected to rally the UPC faithful across Lango sub-region and rejuvenate the party’s influence in Northern Uganda, a region historically aligned with the UPC’s legacy of social justice, unity, and grassroots empowerment.
As the 2026 general elections draw closer, Hon. Santa Sandra Alum Ogwang’s return to the ballot signals a contest driven not by politics of survival, but by a mission to consolidate gains and uplift the people of Otuke District.
