With exhibitors hailing from India, China, Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Turkey, and the UAE, the expo serves as a melting pot of innovation, investment, and knowledge exchange.
At the grand launch, Dr. Ezra Muhumuza Rubanda, Executive Director of the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), praised the expo as a vital platform for Uganda’s development agenda.
“This is not just a trade show. It’s a strategic platform for business development, technology advancement, policy dialogue, regional market integration, and a learning opportunity for everyone,” said Dr. Rubanda.
“Our manufacturers and energy entrepreneurs are gaining visibility and forging partnerships that can propel Uganda’s energy transition.”
He also reaffirmed UMA’s commitment to supporting government programs aimed at increasing electricity access, promoting clean energy, and enhancing the industrial value chain.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development emphasized Uganda’s growing demand for sustainable and affordable energy. Through policy support and public-private partnerships, the government aims to increase electricity access from the current 57% to over 80% by 2030.
UEDCL’s participation also highlights its role in transitioning electricity distribution assets back to the public sector and enhancing rural electrification through off-grid and mini-grid solutions.
Speaking at the expo, UEDCL officials showcased key upgrades and innovations in Uganda’s electricity distribution network, especially under the Rural Electrification Project.
Uganda Expo comes at a time when the region is grappling with energy transition challenges, climate change mitigation, and industrialization demands. The event addresses critical questions, such as:
How can Uganda balance energy access and sustainability?
What role will local manufacturers play in supplying renewable energy infrastructure?
How can Uganda position itself as a regional hub for clean energy technology?
Workshops, product demos, and networking sessions are expected to stimulate dialogue around investment opportunities, local content policies, and private sector involvement in driving Uganda’s energy future.
As the expo continues until 12th July 2025, key highlights to look forward to include:
Live demonstrations of off-grid solar solutions for homes and businesses
Showcasing of locally assembled transformers and smart meters
Seminars on climate finance, green infrastructure, and energy-efficient buildings
Opportunities for business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking between Ugandan and international firms
Uganda’s ambition to be a regional leader in sustainable power generation, energy distribution, and industrial development finds strong support in events like Power and ELEC Uganda.
For attendees, this is more than an exhibition — it is a front-row seat to the technologies shaping the continent’s future.
