UNEB Sets 31st July 2025 as Final Deadline for Registration of 2025 PLE, UCE, and UACE Candidates
As of the final registration phase, a total of 1,415,857 candidates have been registered for the 2025 examination cycle. This represents a notable 6.8% increase compared to 1,319,139 candidates registered in 2024.

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially announced that 31st July 2025 marks the final day for registration of candidates set to sit for this year’s national examinations across all levels: the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
In a press statement signed by UNEB Executive Director Dan N. Odongo, the Board directed all Heads of Primary and Secondary School Examination Centres to complete the latest phase of registration by close of business today. After this deadline, all UNEB school portals will be permanently closed, and no additional registration data for the 2025 examinations will be accepted.
“Thereafter, all school portals will be closed and UNEB will no longer receive registration data for this year's candidates,” the statement emphasized.
UNEB called on Heads of Centres to utilize the remaining hours to ensure that all eligible learners are registered and no student is left out from participating in this year's national examinations. The statement urged vigilance, particularly for learners whose registration might have been delayed due to administrative challenges.
Following the registration period, schools will be mandated to publicly display registers of the registered candidates in accessible areas within school premises. This will allow both learners and parents to verify the accuracy of registration data. In addition to physical displays, UNEB will provide an SMS-based verification system to further facilitate easy access to candidate information.
Any corrections to the registration data after this phase will only be limited to errors in the candidate’s bio-data, not new entries. UNEB also indicated that specific dates for the display and verification exercises will be communicated to schools in due course.
As of the final registration phase, a total of 1,415,857 candidates have been registered for the 2025 examination cycle. This represents a notable 6.8% increase compared to 1,319,139 candidates registered in 2024.
The surge in registration figures may reflect increased enrollment and improved school reporting systems across Uganda’s education sector.
