The Rwenzori Diaspora Community, a vibrant and spiritually grounded congregation under the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church Rwenzori Field, is set to host a grand musical fellowship at Kyambogo University. The event will gather members from across Uganda, Africa, and the diaspora under the banner of unity, worship, and cultural identity.

The community, comprising individuals originally from the Rwenzori region but now living and working in various parts of Uganda and abroad, is rooted in the mission of the SDA Church—to proclaim the everlasting gospel and prepare people for the second coming of Christ. Through quarterly reunions, the Rwenzori Diaspora Community aims to keep its members spiritually refreshed, socially connected, and culturally grounded.

A Fellowship Like No Other

The upcoming fellowship, scheduled for 23rd August 2025, will be held at Kyambogo University grounds, offering a space where members will reunite and worship together in the familiar language and traditions of the Rwenzori region.

The highlight of the day will be a grand musical experience, featuring choral renditions, instrumental praise, and cultural gospel music from various Rwenzori-origin congregations. The theme revolves around celebrating faith, unity, and heritage through music—a cornerstone of Adventist worship.

Esteemed Guests to Grace the Occasion

The key speaker at this significant gathering will be Pastor Mutwanga Ezekiel, Uganda Union, publication Director. His sermon is expected to call the diaspora community to spiritual renewal and commitment.

Adding a cultural and royal touch to the event, Her Royal Highness the Nyabaghole (Queen Mother) of the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu is expected to grace the fellowship as the special guest. Her presence symbolizes the deep-rooted cultural pride of the people of Rwenzori and the seamless blend between faith and tradition.

Organized Leadership and Community Structure

Under the leadership of a well-organized team comprising a President, Vice President, Clerk, Treasurer, and heads of various sectoral groups, the Rwenzori Diaspora Community continues to make strides in maintaining spiritual cohesion among its members far from home. These structured reunions serve not only to worship but also to discuss community development, promote unity, and offer support across borders.

According to Ezra Bukundika, Director at the Global Peace Foundation and an advocate of diaspora cohesion, “The Rwenzori Diaspora Community is more than just a religious group. It is a movement of people committed to preserving their faith, values, and cultural roots while living away from home. The upcoming fellowship is both a spiritual revival and a homecoming.”

A Call to Worship

The organizers have extended a heartfelt invitation to all members of the Rwenzori region origin living away from home to attend in large numbers. “We appeal to everyone to join us in this powerful worship experience. It is not just an event; it is an encounter with the Saviour, an opportunity to reconnect with your roots and your community,” the organizing committee noted in a statement.

With expectations running high, the musical fellowship at Kyambogo University promises to be an unforgettable event—a tapestry of worship, music, and unity woven with the threads of Rwenzori identity and the eternal message of hope.
