MASAKA CITY – National Resistance Movement (NRM) Deputy Secretary General Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja Nsereko has officially launched the party's grassroots mobilisation campaign in the Greater Masaka sub-region as preparations intensify for the forthcoming Local Council I (LC I) and Village Women Council elections.

The mobilisation drive commenced on Sunday with a high-level regional entry meeting held at Hotel Brovad in Masaka City, bringing together key party leaders and government officials from across the sub-region.

The meeting attracted NRM Members of Parliament, district party chairpersons, Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), district registrars, security officials, administrators, and other party leaders from the 10 districts that make up the Greater Masaka sub-region.

The gathering forms part of the NRM's nationwide mobilisation programme aimed at strengthening party structures, harmonising campaign strategies, and ensuring effective coordination ahead of the village-level elections.

In her address, Namayanja underscored the importance of unity, discipline, and grassroots organisation, describing the LC I and Women Council elections as the foundation of the party's political strength.

She urged party leaders to intensify mobilisation efforts in every village, ensuring that eligible members participate actively in the electoral process while safeguarding the integrity of the party's internal structures.

The Deputy Secretary General emphasised that the success of the forthcoming elections will largely depend on the commitment of leaders at district, sub-county, parish, and village levels, calling on them to work closely with local communities and ensure no member is left behind.

She further challenged leaders to strengthen communication with the electorate, resolve internal misunderstandings amicably, and promote unity within the party as it prepares for future electoral activities.

Namayanja reminded participants that the village elections provide an opportunity to renew the party's grassroots leadership and reinforce the NRM's presence across the country.

The meeting also provided a platform for leaders to review the party's mobilisation strategy, assess preparedness within the sub-region, and discuss measures to improve coordination among various party structures.

Security officials and RDCs briefed participants on the need for peaceful, orderly, and transparent electoral processes, while registrars highlighted the importance of adherence to the party's electoral guidelines and timetable.

Leaders from the various districts pledged to intensify mobilisation campaigns, encourage voter participation, and ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful and credible manner.

The Greater Masaka mobilisation meeting is one of several regional engagements being conducted across the country as the NRM leadership traverses different sub-regions to prepare party structures for the forthcoming village elections.

The nationwide mobilisation campaign seeks to strengthen grassroots leadership, improve coordination among party organs, and reaffirm the NRM's commitment to democratic participation beginning at the village level.

The LC I and Village Women Council elections are expected to play a crucial role in renewing local leadership structures that serve as the foundation of the party's organisation throughout the country.
