Seninde Leads NRM Mobilisation Drive for Leku Pilli Ahead of Adjumani West By-Election

ADJUMANI, Uganda — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Director of Mobilization, Dr. Hon. Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, has led a team from the NRM Secretariat on a mobilisation campaign across several villages in Adjumani Town Council in support of the party’s flagbearer for the Adjumani West parliamentary by-election, James Leku Pilli.

The mobilisation drive comes ahead of the by-election scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026, as the NRM intensifies efforts to rally its supporters behind Leku Pilli.

Seninde is leading the NRM Secretariat delegation in Adjumani West, which includes Rogers Mulindwa, Senior Manager, Media and Publicity, and Sam Eyenga, Senior Manager, Mobilization.

During engagements with residents and NRM supporters, Seninde emphasised the importance of unity, party loyalty and collective mobilisation as the party seeks to secure victory for its candidate.

She appealed to supporters who did not vote for Leku Pilli during the NRM primaries to put aside internal differences and rally behind the party flagbearer.

“I request you to vote overwhelmingly for Leku. To those who didn't vote for him in the primaries, I beg you—we are one NRM family. Let us put our heads, energies, and hearts together,” Seninde said.

Her message centred on reconciliation within the party following the primary elections, urging members to regard the by-election as an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of the NRM’s organisational structures at grassroots level.

Seninde's mobilisation team is expected to continue engaging communities across Adjumani West, encouraging party supporters to turn up in large numbers on polling day and cast their votes for Leku Pilli.

The NRM campaign has also placed emphasis on maintaining cohesion among party cadres and supporters, with leaders repeatedly calling for unity as the party seeks to consolidate its support ahead of the September 17 poll.

The Adjumani West by-election follows the death of veteran NRM leader Gen. Moses Ali, who represented the constituency for several years. The contest has therefore attracted significant political attention, with the NRM seeking to retain the seat under a new representative.

Leku Pilli has been presented by the NRM as the candidate to carry forward the party's political agenda and represent the interests of the people of Adjumani West in Parliament.

The ongoing mobilisation activities are part of the final phase of campaigns ahead of polling day, with party leaders focusing on grassroots engagement, voter mobilisation and strengthening coordination among NRM structures.

With the September 17 election approaching, the NRM Secretariat's presence in Adjumani West signals the party's determination to deploy its national mobilisation machinery in support of its flagbearer.

The campaign is being conducted under the broader message of party unity, with Seninde urging supporters to work together regardless of their preferred candidates during the primary elections.

As the campaign enters its final stretch, the focus now shifts towards consolidating support at village and parish level and ensuring that NRM supporters are mobilised to participate in the by-election.
