ADJUMANI, Uganda — The NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Region, Hon. Hamson Obua, has joined the campaign trail of the party’s Adjumani West flag bearer, Hon. James Leku Pilli, urging voters to elect him and preserve what he described as the gains achieved under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.

Obua joined Leku Pilli during campaigns across Adjumani Town Council, where the two leaders engaged residents and canvassed for support ahead of the Adjumani West parliamentary by-election.

In his address to voters, Obua appealed to the electorate to rally behind Leku Pilli, saying his election would help sustain the political and development legacy of the late Gen. Moses Ali, the former Adjumani West Member of Parliament and long-serving NRM cadre.

He described Gen. Moses Ali as a committed supporter of the NRM who championed the party’s manifesto under the leadership of NRM Chairman and President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Obua told residents that the upcoming election presents an opportunity for Adjumani West to choose a leader who will remain aligned with the government and continue advocating for programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of communities.

He particularly urged voters to safeguard the peace and stability that he said the NRM government has consolidated across West Nile and the wider northern region.

According to Obua, the prevailing peace has created an environment in which communities can participate in economic activities, access government programmes and pursue opportunities for household income generation.

He also pointed to government development initiatives and wealth-creation programmes as some of the gains that should be protected through continued support for the NRM.

“These gains are not accidental,” Obua reminded residents. “They can only be preserved by voting NRM.”

The NRM Vice Chairperson further encouraged voters to consider the importance of electing a representative capable of working with the government to attract development programmes and ensure that the concerns of Adjumani West are effectively presented at national level.

His appearance alongside Leku Pilli is expected to strengthen the NRM campaign in the constituency as the flag bearer continues his mobilisation drive across the area.

Leku Pilli has been campaigning on a message of unity, effective representation and continuity, calling on residents to come together and give Adjumani West a strong and organised voice in Parliament.

The campaign comes against the backdrop of the death of Gen. Moses Ali, whose passing created a vacancy in the Adjumani West parliamentary seat and triggered the by-election.

The NRM has positioned Leku Pilli as its candidate to retain the constituency, with party leaders mobilising supporters and highlighting the need for continuity in government programmes and representation.

For residents of Adjumani West, the campaigns have therefore become an important contest over both leadership and the direction of the constituency, with the NRM seeking to retain the seat while emphasising its record on peace, stability, development and economic empowerment.

As campaigns continue, the candidates are expected to intensify their mobilisation efforts across the constituency, with voters ultimately deciding who will represent Adjumani West in Parliament. #AdjumaniWestDecides
