BUDAKA DISTRICT: The National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Treasurer and Bukedi Sub-region Team Leader, Hon. Ambassador Barbara Nekesa Oundo, has urged party leaders across the Bukedi sub-region to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure maximum participation in the forthcoming Local Council I (LC I) and Village Women Council elections.

Speaking during the Bukedi Sub-region entry meeting held at Marple Cottages in Kamonkoli Town Council, Budaka District, Ambassador Nekesa said the upcoming elections present an important opportunity for the party to strengthen its grassroots structures and consolidate support across all villages.

The high-level meeting brought together Members of Parliament, district party chairpersons, LCV chairpersons, registrars, administrators, flag bearers, and other leaders from various NRM structures in the Bukedi sub-region to harmonise mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections.

Ambassador Nekesa described the meeting as a strategic engagement aimed at aligning party leaders on the roadmap for the upcoming village elections while reinforcing the importance of unity, discipline, and effective coordination.

She commended the people of Bukedi for their continued support of the NRM and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, saying the region has consistently demonstrated confidence in the party's leadership through its strong electoral performance.

"The support that Bukedi has continued to give to the National Resistance Movement and our National Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has greatly contributed to the party's success. We appreciate the people of this region and encourage them to remain steadfast as we prepare for the Local Council and Village Women Council elections," she said.

Ambassador Nekesa called upon party leaders to return to their respective districts, sub-counties, parishes, and villages to mobilise supporters, educate communities on the electoral process, and ensure every eligible party member participates in the elections.

She emphasised that the Local Council and Village Women Council elections form the foundation of the party's grassroots leadership, making it essential for NRM leaders to conduct transparent, peaceful, and inclusive mobilisation exercises.

The National Treasurer further encouraged leaders to work together, avoid internal divisions, and focus on strengthening party cohesion to ensure the NRM maintains its dominance at the village level.

She reminded leaders that effective grassroots structures are critical in implementing government programmes, promoting accountability, and sustaining the party's connection with local communities.

The Bukedi regional entry meeting forms part of the NRM's nationwide mobilisation campaign being conducted across all sub-regions as the party prepares for the forthcoming Local Council and Village Women Council elections.

Through the regional engagements, the party leadership is seeking to harmonise strategies, strengthen coordination among leaders, and encourage active participation by members in the electoral process.

Party officials expressed confidence that with continued mobilisation and unity, the NRM will register strong participation and successful outcomes in the upcoming grassroots elections.

The meeting concluded with renewed calls for vigilance, teamwork, and sustained engagement with communities to ensure the party remains firmly rooted at the grassroots level ahead of the electoral exercise.
