First Lady Janet Museveni Purchases 28,000 Tickets for Fans Ahead of CHAN 2024 3rd Place Playoff at Namboole

The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, has extended a generous gesture to Ugandan football fans by purchasing 28,000 tickets for the CHAN 2024 3rd/4th Place Playoff match between Sudan and Senegal. The match is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Friday, 29th August 2025, at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
The announcement was made by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) through its Chairperson of the Communications and Signage Sub-Committee, Dr. Dennis K. Mugimba. He revealed that the tickets were secured from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and are meant to reward fans for their enthusiastic support during Uganda’s historic co-hosting of the tournament alongside Kenya and Tanzania.

This year’s CHAN tournament has been significant for Uganda, marking the first time the country has hosted part of the prestigious continental championship. While Tanzania hosted the opening match and Kenya will stage the finals, Uganda was entrusted with the 3rd/4th place playoff, a moment that reflects the country’s growing stature in African football.
According to the LOC, the tickets will not be physically distributed but accessed electronically via CAF’s official ticketing website. Fans can secure their tickets by visiting the portal, filling in their personal details, and entering the promo code CHAN3RD.
The tickets will bear the mark “NOT FOR SALE”, ensuring authenticity while prohibiting resale. Each fan will be eligible to claim up to three tickets, which must be presented at Namboole Stadium gates for entry.
Tomorrow’s event is expected to go beyond football, with the LOC arranging a major entertainment lineup to celebrate the culmination of Uganda’s hosting journey. Performances from top local artists including Jose Chameleone, John Blaq, Elijah Kitaka, and Vinka are scheduled to keep fans entertained before and after the game.
Kick-off for the highly anticipated clash between Sudan and Senegal is set for 6:00 p.m., preceded by an entertainment show starting one hour earlier. The evening will conclude with the official medal ceremony conducted by CAF.
