Parliament, Kampala – A new chapter has begun in the leadership of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus following the official handover of the office of Publicity Secretary from Hon. Brandon Kintu Alex to Hon. Derrick Orone, the Member of Parliament for Gogonyo County in Pallisa District.

The handover ceremony, held on Thursday, marked a smooth transition within the NRM Caucus Executive of the 12th Parliament, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the ruling party's communication and parliamentary agenda.

Taking to social media after the ceremony, Hon. Orone expressed gratitude to his predecessor for his service and pledged to build on the foundation already laid.

"Today Hon. Brandon Kintu Alex handed over the Publicity Secretary office of the NRM Caucus Executive of the 12th Parliament to me, his successor. Thanks so much and I will always get guidance from you, my brother, and may God bless you as you go on a new journey," Hon. Orone said.

The transition comes at a crucial time as the NRM Parliamentary Caucus continues to consolidate its role in supporting the government's legislative agenda and communicating the achievements and priorities of the ruling party both within Parliament and to the wider public.

As Publicity Secretary, Hon. Orone will be tasked with coordinating the caucus' communication strategy, disseminating information on policy positions and legislative activities, and enhancing engagement between NRM legislators and the public.

Hon. Brandon Kintu Alex, who served in the role during the previous tenure, was commended for his dedication and contribution to strengthening communication within the caucus. His leadership saw increased visibility of the caucus' activities and reinforced collaboration among NRM legislators.

The cordial handover underscored the spirit of continuity and unity within the NRM Caucus leadership, with Hon. Orone emphasizing that he would continue seeking guidance from his predecessor to ensure a seamless transition and effective execution of his responsibilities.

Political observers have described the transition as a demonstration of the NRM's commitment to orderly leadership succession and institutional continuity within its parliamentary structures.

Hon. Orone, who has been an active legislator and advocate for service delivery and development initiatives in Gogonyo County and the greater Teso sub-region, now assumes the responsibility of spearheading the communication agenda of one of the most influential parliamentary caucuses in the country.

The new NRM Caucus Executive is expected to play a pivotal role in rallying support for government programmes, articulating the party's legislative priorities, and maintaining cohesion among NRM Members of Parliament as the country advances its socio-economic transformation agenda.

The handover ceremony therefore not only marked the end of one chapter in the caucus' communication leadership but also signaled the beginning of a new era under Hon. Derrick Orone's stewardship as Publicity Secretary of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus Executive in the 12th Parliament.
