Tribute to Cedric Babu
In a solemn moment, Hon. Fadil also extended heartfelt condolences to the PLU fraternity following the untimely passing of Cedric Babu, the PLU Vice Chairman in charge of the Kampala Region. Babu, a respected mobilizer and strategist within the movement, passed away due to heart complications.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our brother Cedric Babu. His mobilization skills and dedication to the cause of patriotic leadership will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” said Hon. Fadil.
The expression of interest exercise was officially launched by the NRM on June 2, 2025, and marks the beginning of the party’s roadmap toward the 2026 general elections. The process is being coordinated by the NRM Electoral Commission chaired by Dr. Tanga Odoi, and it will run until June 15. Formal nominations are scheduled to take place on June 17.
The forms being picked up cover various political positions including:
Parliamentary seats,
Local Council V (LCV) Chairpersons,
City and Municipal Mayors,
District and City Councillors.
Dr. Tanga Odoi emphasized the importance of discipline, unity, and adherence to the party’s electoral guidelines throughout the process.
“This is the first step toward identifying the most capable and loyal candidates to carry our flag in 2026. We encourage all aspirants to uphold the core values of the NRM,” Dr. Odoi said.
Hon. Fadil joined other party members in calling for transparency and internal cohesion during the election season. He emphasized that the strength of the NRM lies in its ability to conduct credible internal processes and to present strong candidates who genuinely represent the people’s aspirations.
As the expression of interest phase unfolds, Hon. Fadil’s re-affirmation of commitment to service delivery has already sparked enthusiasm among his supporters in Kapchorwa and the greater Sebei sub-region.
