KAMPALA – The General Secretary of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Hon. Twalla Fadil, has reaffirmed the organization's commitment to transparent leadership, grassroots engagement, patriotism and the fight against corruption, following a series of consultative meetings with supporters and mobilizers from across the country.

Over the past three days, Hon. Twalla said he has held engagements with several distinguished leaders, supporters and promoters of the PLU, describing the meetings as productive and encouraging. According to him, the discussions reflected growing commitment among members to advance the vision and ideology championed by the PLU and its Chairman, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

He noted that the interactions provided an opportunity to receive ideas from supporters while strengthening the movement's mobilization structures and reinforcing the values of patriotism, accountability and service to the country.

Speaking after meeting leaders of the "Omuntu wa Wansi" group from Greater Luwero at the PLU headquarters, Hon. Twalla raised concern over what he described as a growing culture of making promises to community groups during political campaigns without fulfilling them.

He warned that such practices undermine public trust and place unnecessary pressure on grassroots mobilizers, who often bear the blame for commitments made by political leaders but never honored.

According to the PLU General Secretary, unfulfilled promises discourage supporters and weaken the relationship between communities and those entrusted with mobilization efforts.

He emphasized that honesty and integrity must become central principles of political engagement if organizations are to maintain the confidence of their supporters and effectively mobilize citizens in support of government programmes.

Hon. Twalla further observed that disappointed supporters become less willing to participate in civic activities, including reporting individuals who sabotage government programmes, thereby affecting broader national development efforts.

In response to concerns raised by the Greater Luwero delegation, Hon. Twalla pledged to personally follow up the matter and organize a consultative meeting in Luwero in coordination with the PLU leadership.

He expressed confidence that through dialogue and engagement, the concerns affecting the group can be addressed while strengthening cooperation between the organization and communities at the grassroots.

The General Secretary also reiterated that his office remains accessible to all supporters and well-wishers of the Patriotic League of Uganda.

He encouraged members of the public to freely present their views, proposals and concerns through the PLU Secretariat, stressing that the organization values open communication with Ugandans.

At the same time, Hon. Twalla cautioned supporters against individuals who solicit money while claiming they can facilitate access to his office or arrange meetings with PLU Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

He made it clear that consultations with his office, appointments and engagements with the PLU leadership are offered free of charge and that no individual has been authorized to demand payment for such services.

"If I am not in the office, our staff will assist you or schedule an appointment," he assured supporters.

Hon. Twalla concluded by calling upon Ugandans to work together in building a stronger and more prosperous country through patriotism, accountability and collective responsibility.

His engagements form part of the PLU Secretariat's ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots structures, deepen public participation and promote the organization's agenda of national unity, patriotism and the fight against corruption under the leadership of Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
