Prominent National Resistance Movement (NRM) member and close ally to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Joseph Sewava Mukasa, has called upon the people of Mbale City to turn up in overwhelming numbers and vote for President Museveni in the upcoming general elections slated for January 16, 2026. Sewava made the passionate appeal at the Mbale District Local Government offices, shortly after President Museveni concluded his campaign rally at Malukhu D.A. Grounds in Mbale City, where thousands of NRM supporters gathered to reaffirm their support for the party’s long-serving leader.

Speaking to the media, Ssewava emphasized that civic education and sensitization at the grassroots level will be critical in ensuring that Ugandans make informed choices during the 2026 elections. He revealed plans to spearhead a nationwide civic education campaign aimed at mobilizing voters in all regions to support President Museveni and the NRM’s vision for continued peace, stability, and socio-economic transformation.

“We shall move across the country to conduct civic education. Sensitization needs to be done from the grassroots so that people understand why it’s important to vote wisely — to secure the progress Uganda has made under the leadership of President Museveni,” Ssewava said.

He praised President Museveni for his consistent commitment to transforming Uganda through initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), which have empowered communities and lifted many households out of poverty.

Sewava also commended the people of Mbale and the wider Bugisu sub-region for turning up in large numbers to welcome the President, describing it as a clear sign of trust and appreciation for the NRM government’s achievements.

“The massive attendance we have seen today is proof that the people of Mbale believe in the NRM. They have seen roads, schools, hospitals, and other projects that have changed lives. This support must be consolidated through a decisive vote come January 2026,” he added.

President Museveni’s campaign in Mbale City focused on consolidating the NRM’s support base in Eastern Uganda, with key messages centered on wealth creation, industrialization, and peace — pillars that have anchored the party’s long-term development agenda.

As campaigns gain momentum across the country, Ssewava’s commitment to civic engagement and grassroots mobilization underscores the NRM’s strategy to strengthen its outreach and secure a resounding victory for President Museveni in the forthcoming polls.
