Museveni Ends Bugisu Campaign in Mbale, Reaffirms NRM’s Agenda for Peace, Development, and Jobs

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has applauded the people of Mbale City for turning up in large numbers to attend his campaign rally — the final stop in the Bugisu subregion — before heading to the Sebei subregion later in the evening.

Addressing thousands of enthusiastic supporters at Malukhu Grounds, President Museveni expressed gratitude to the people of Mbale for their unwavering support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and its vision of peace, development, and prosperity for all Ugandans.

“I thank the people of Mbale for turning up in big numbers for our first rally today,” the President said. “I challenged them to enter the playing field of wealth creation. We have brought several programs — the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, the Youth Fund, and now one for religious leaders, cultural leaders, and unemployed graduates. We don’t want spectators; everyone should play and create wealth.”

He emphasized that the NRM’s central philosophy remains focused on empowering citizens to become active participants in the economy rather than mere observers. According to the President, true transformation will only come when households begin generating their own income and reducing dependency.

“Jobs come from wealth, and wealth comes from individuals,” Museveni explained. “That’s why the NRM is investing in our people through these programs. Imagine what will happen when we add oil money to this effort!”

Infrastructure Commitment for Bugisu

During his speech, the President also outlined major infrastructural projects the government is committed to implementing in the region. These include the Mbale–Nkonkonjeru Road, Bududa Circular Road, Namagumba–Budadiri Road, Muyembe–Nakapiripirit Road, and the Tororo–Mbale–Soroti–Kamdini Highway.

“These roads are essential to facilitate trade, tourism, and connectivity across our region and the country at large,” he said, assuring the people that infrastructure development remains a cornerstone of the NRM government’s agenda.

The Five-Point Mission

President Museveni reiterated the NRM’s enduring mission, built on five pillars that he said have guided Uganda’s transformation over the years:

Peace – ensuring security and stability across the nation.

Development – expanding infrastructure and social services.

Wealth Creation – promoting economic empowerment through government programs.

Jobs – supporting industries and initiatives that create employment.

Free Education in Government Schools – ensuring equal opportunities for all children.

“When we secure these five, Uganda moves forward steadily and peacefully,” the President stated. “Therefore, vote for the NRM.”

Heading to Sebei Region

The Mbale rally marked the final campaign engagement in the Bugisu subregion. Later in the evening, President Museveni was expected to proceed to Bukwo District in the Sebei subregion, where he would continue engaging the electorate on the NRM’s transformative agenda ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The President’s campaign trail in Bugisu has been characterized by massive turnouts and enthusiastic support, with residents pledging to consolidate the gains of peace and development under the NRM government.

As Museveni continues his campaign in Sebei, his message remains consistent: ensuring that every Ugandan household participates in wealth creation to achieve sustainable prosperity and a modern, secure Uganda.
