Juma Witonze Appointed State Minister for Internal Affairs, Pending Parliamentary Approval

KAMPALA — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reportedly appointed Hon. Juma Witonze, a National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) mobiliser in the Central Region, as the new Minister of State for Internal Affairs, subject to approval by Parliament.

Witonze's reported appointment comes after the nomination of the initial candidate for the position, Dr. Lawrence Muganga, stalled during the parliamentary vetting process.

The appointment is expected to pave the way for the Ministry of Internal Affairs to have a new State Minister responsible for supporting the ministry's mandate, which includes matters relating to internal security, immigration, national identification and civil registration, among other responsibilities.
