Senior NRM Leaders Convene in Arua Ahead of President Museveni’s Campaign Trail

Arua, West Nile – Senior leaders of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party have converged at Eripak Resort Park – Euata in Arua District for a high-level preparatory meeting ahead of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s anticipated campaign trail across the West Nile sub-region.

The strategic meeting brings together top NRM figures, including the Party’s Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, the Chairperson of the NRM Veterans League, Lt. (Rtd) Moses Mushabe, and the Party Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong. The trio is leading a strong team of senior party officials and district leaders to coordinate efforts aimed at ensuring the President’s visit and campaign activities proceed smoothly.

 

Also present at the meeting are NRM Electoral Commission Vice Chairperson, Mr. Jachan Omach, Director of Finance and Administration, Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale, and members of the NRM district executive committees from across the West Nile sub-region.

The gathering is further strengthened by the presence of senior government officials, including the Minister of State for Primary Education, Hon. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, and the Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Hon. Obiga Kania, who are participating in discussions aimed at harmonizing government and party mobilization strategies in the region.

Speaking during the session, Hon. Obua emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and effective coordination among party leaders as the NRM gears up for the President’s engagement with the people of West Nile. He noted that the preparatory meeting was not only about logistics but also about reaffirming the party’s grassroots structures and strengthening the bond between the leadership and the electorate.

“The President’s campaign trail is a major opportunity for us to renew our commitment to service, to listen to the concerns of our people, and to mobilize the region behind the NRM’s transformative agenda,” Obua said.

 

Party Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong echoed similar sentiments, calling for enhanced teamwork among the party’s district and sub-county structures. He reminded leaders of the NRM’s consistent record in delivering peace, infrastructure, and development across the country, urging them to remain focused on consolidating these achievements.

Lt. (Rtd) Moses Mushabe, Chairperson of the Veterans League, lauded the role of NRM veterans and historicals in sustaining the party’s vision, particularly in regions like West Nile where the NRM has steadily gained support over the years. He encouraged veterans to take an active role in grassroots mobilization, especially in guiding the youth towards productive engagement and patriotism.

The meeting also reviewed the region’s preparedness in terms of mobilization, communication, and security coordination ahead of the President’s arrival. Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale underscored the need for accountability and proper resource management during the campaign process, while Jachan Omach briefed attendees on the role of the Electoral Commission in ensuring internal party processes are transparent and credible.

As the meeting concluded, leaders expressed optimism that the President’s campaign trail in West Nile will not only energize the NRM base but also reaffirm the party’s commitment to inclusive growth and regional transformation.

The gathering at Eripak Resort Park – Euata marks a key milestone in the NRM’s nationwide mobilization strategy as Uganda heads into a new phase of political engagement ahead of the 2026 general elections.
