Simon Okore Enters Race for Eastern Youth MP on NRM Ticket, Promises to Tackle Unemployment and Champion Youth Empowerment
Simon Okore has officially declared his intention to contest for the Eastern Youth Member of Parliament seat on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
Okore, successfully picked his nomination forms from the NRM secretariat in Kampala on Friday, joining the growing list of youthful aspirants seeking to shape Uganda’s future through vibrant leadership.
Okore, a youth leader known for his grassroots mobilization and community engagement, said his decision to join the race is driven by a strong desire to be a voice for the youth in Parliament. He pledged to vigorously advocate for policies that directly respond to the challenges facing young people, especially unemployment and lack of access to government empowerment programs.
“I believe it’s time for fresh, bold and committed leadership that understands what the youth are going through. I am stepping forward to bridge the gap between government programs and the ordinary youth who continue to be left behind,” Okore stated while addressing journalists shortly after receiving his nomination documents.
If elected, he says he will prioritize lobbying for increased funding to youth initiatives, creating job linkages for graduates and skilled youth, and ensuring equitable access to development opportunities across Eastern Uganda.
Okore’s entry into the political scene reflects a growing awakening among young Ugandans who are determined to take charge of their future by actively participating in decision-making spaces. His campaign is expected to rally large support from rural and urban youth who have for long felt sidelined in policy implementation.
With unemployment continuing to be a top concern among young Ugandans, Okore’s message resonates deeply positioning him as a strong contender in the 2026 general elections.
