Kalungu District — National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters in Kalungu District have pledged to deliver more than 80 percent of the vote for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026 General Elections, unveiling a unified mobilisation strategy aimed at securing a decisive victory for the party and its flag bearers at all levels.

The pledge was made during a mobilisation and coordination meeting held in Kalungu, where the NRM National Treasurer, Ambassador Hon. Barbara Nekesa Oundo, addressed enthusiastic party members, local leaders, and youth representatives.

In her address, Amb. Nekesa commended the unity and enthusiasm demonstrated by the Kalungu supporters, describing their commitment as a reflection of the strong grassroots structures that continue to anchor the NRM across Uganda.

She likened the Movement’s strength to a great river fed by multiple tributaries, symbolizing the collective effort of its supporters.

“The Movement is the main river, and there are many tributaries that feed into it,” Hon. Nekesa remarked. “Today we are united for a common cause — to ensure that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all our flag bearers are successful. The campaigns will be coordinated, and the victory on January 12, 2026, is certain.”

Amb. Nekesa emphasized that effective mobilisation, unity, and consistent engagement with the electorate will be key in ensuring that the party maintains its dominance in the district and across the country. She urged party leaders and supporters to focus on explaining the NRM’s achievements under President Museveni’s leadership, particularly in sectors such as infrastructure, education, health, and economic empowerment.

Local NRM leaders in Kalungu reaffirmed their readiness to deliver on the 80% target, noting that the district has benefited significantly from government programmes like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, which have empowered rural communities and small-scale entrepreneurs.

They also highlighted the importance of early mobilisation, door-to-door voter engagement, and coordination with local structures to ensure that no polling station is left behind in the 2026 campaign.

The meeting concluded with a renewed call for discipline, loyalty, and solidarity among all party members. Supporters pledged to continue rallying behind President Museveni’s vision of peace, stability, and socio-economic transformation.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Chairman of the NRM, is expected to seek re-election in the upcoming 2026 polls. The ruling party has embarked on a series of regional and district-level mobilisation meetings led by senior party officials to consolidate support ahead of the elections.

The Kalungu gathering is part of these ongoing efforts, aimed at strengthening the NRM’s grassroots base and ensuring a well-coordinated campaign across Uganda.
