Mulindwa Urges NRM Supporters to Stay United Ahead of Adjumani West By-Election

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Senior Manager for Communications, Mr Rogers Mulindwa, has urged party supporters in Adjumani West to remain united and rally behind the party's flagbearer, Mr James Leku Pilli, ahead of the constituency's upcoming parliamentary by-election.

Mulindwa made the appeal on Saturday while joining Leku on the campaign trail in Agojo Lower Primary School and Duba Village in Ciforo Sub-county, as the NRM intensified its mobilisation efforts ahead of polling day.

Addressing residents and NRM supporters, Mulindwa called for unity within the party, saying a united support base would be critical in ensuring victory for the NRM candidate.

He also used the campaign rallies to sensitise voters about the importance of correctly marking their ballot papers, citing the high number of invalid votes recorded in Adjumani West during the January 2026 general elections.

According to Mulindwa, more than 2,600 votes cast in the constituency during the January elections were invalidated.

He urged voters to pay close attention to the ballot paper on polling day and correctly identify the NRM symbol, commonly referred to as the “bus,” before casting their vote.

Mulindwa advised voters supporting Leku to place their tick or fingerprint inside the appropriate box next to the NRM symbol to avoid their votes being declared invalid.

The message formed part of the NRM's wider voter mobilisation and sensitisation campaign as the party seeks to consolidate its support ahead of the September 17 by-election.

The by-election follows the death of former Adjumani West Member of Parliament Gen. Moses Ali, who passed away on July 18, 2026.

Leku, who is campaigning under the NRM ticket, has been traversing the constituency seeking support from voters and promising to continue the development agenda associated with the NRM government.

Mulindwa further mobilised residents to turn up in large numbers on Tuesday when NRM National Chairman and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to address a grand campaign rally in support of Leku.

He urged NRM supporters, undecided voters and other residents of Adjumani West to attend the rally and listen to the President's message ahead of the vote.

The NRM has intensified its campaign activities in Adjumani West in the final days of the race, deploying senior party officials to mobilise support for its candidate.

The campaign has also focused on voter mobilisation, party unity and encouraging supporters to participate in the electoral process.

With polling day drawing closer, the contest is expected to enter an increasingly competitive phase as candidates make their final efforts to convince voters.

For the NRM, the immediate focus remains on consolidating its support base, ensuring voters understand the voting process and delivering Leku Pilli to Parliament as the party's representative for Adjumani West.

The by-election will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, when voters in Adjumani West will choose their next Member of Parliament.
