Bunyoro Derby Headlines Matchday 21 as NEC Visit Police
Currently second on the table with 43 points, Kitara are chasing leaders Vipers SC, who sit atop the standings with 47 points. A win for the Royals would keep pressure firmly on the Venoms as the title race intensifies.
The StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns on Friday, March 13, 2026, with a thrilling set of Matchday 21 fixtures, headlined by the much-anticipated Bunyoro derby between Kitara FC and Buhimba United Saints FC at Hoima City Stadium.
The derby will mark the first official competitive match at the newly constructed Hoima City Stadium, adding extra significance to the contest. Kitara previously christened the venue with a 1-0 victory over KCCA FC in an inauguration match late last year, and will be eager to make another strong statement on home soil.
Currently second on the table with 43 points, Kitara are chasing leaders Vipers SC, who sit atop the standings with 47 points. A win for the Royals would keep pressure firmly on the Venoms as the title race intensifies.
For Buhimba United Saints, the stakes are equally high but at the opposite end of the table. The Saints are 14th with 15 points, level with Mbarara City FC but only above the relegation zone on goal difference. A positive result in the derby could provide a crucial boost in their survival fight.
NEC Face Police in Key Top-Half Clash
Elsewhere, NEC FC make the short trip to the Kiira Road Police Arena to face Police FC in what promises to be a tightly contested encounter.
NEC come into the match unbeaten in their last 10 league games and currently sit seventh with 31 points. Victory would see them close the gap on sixth-placed Police, who have accumulated 35 points so far this season.
With both sides eyeing a top-six finish, Friday’s clash in Kamwokya could significantly shape the mid-table standings.
BUL Host Struggling Mbarara City
In Njeru, BUL FC host Mbarara City at the FUFA Technical Centre. BUL are eighth with 29 points and remain within reach of the top six. A win at home would enhance their push for a stronger finish.
Mbarara City, however, are second from bottom with 13 points and desperate for maximum points to avoid being cut adrift in the relegation battle.
Saturday Fixtures to Watch
Matchday 21 action continues on Saturday, March 14, with several intriguing fixtures:

Maroons FC vs UPDF FC at Prisons Grounds, Luzira

Express FC vs URA FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo
