The National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Treasurer, Amb. Hon. Barbara Nekesa, has called on NRM leaders, flagbearers, and mobilisation groups from Busia District to unite in a joint campaign front for the re-election of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026 general elections.

Speaking on Saturday at a meeting convened at Budecho Primary School in Daban East Village, Dabani Subcounty, Amb. Nekesa said the purpose of the gathering was to harmonise strategies and bring together different mobilisation structures working for the party in Busia.

“We invited you here to discuss how we can cooperate to forge a joint campaign task force team that will traverse the country seeking support for President Museveni,” Nekesa told the leaders.

The meeting brought together Busia NRM flagbearers, party leaders, and mobilisation groups, underscoring the importance of early preparation as the country moves closer to the official start of presidential campaigns scheduled for October.

Amb. Nekesa, who has been at the forefront of NRM mobilisation efforts across the country, urged participants to set aside individual interests and embrace teamwork, stressing that unity of purpose would guarantee a decisive victory for President Museveni.

She further commended the mobilisation groups for their dedication and grassroots outreach, noting that Busia has historically been a stronghold of the ruling party and must continue to play a key role in delivering support in 2026.

The meeting also provided a platform for leaders to share ideas on strengthening voter mobilisation, enhancing coordination among flagbearers, and addressing community concerns ahead of the campaigns.

NRM leaders in attendance welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary for energising the party base at the district level. They pledged their commitment to working under one unified task force to ensure that Busia delivers overwhelming support for President Museveni’s candidature.

As the October campaign season approaches, the NRM Secretariat continues to mobilise across the country, with senior officials spearheading regional engagements aimed at building consensus, sharpening strategy, and sustaining momentum for the ruling party’s campaign machinery.
