NRM’s Samuel Eyenga Leads Grassroots Mobilisation in Soroti City West
The mobilisation drive was held at Labour Line Cell in Pamba Ward, where NRM members and local residents gathered for a village baraza aimed at engaging the community and rallying support for the party's candidates in the upcoming grassroots elections.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has intensified grassroots mobilisation in Soroti City West Division, Teso Sub-region, ahead of the forthcoming Village Women Council and LC I Chairperson elections. The mobilisation drive was held at Labour Line Cell in Pamba Ward, where NRM members and local residents gathered for a village baraza aimed at engaging the community and rallying support for the party's candidates in the upcoming grassroots elections.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Samuel Eyenga, the NRM Senior Manager for Mobilisation and Team Leader for the Teso Sub-region, urged residents to support NRM candidates, saying strong grassroots leadership is essential for effective service delivery and the successful implementation of government programmes.
Eyenga, who also unveiled the NRM flag bearer for the LC I Chairperson position, encouraged residents to elect leaders who can work closely with the government to ensure that communities benefit from existing development initiatives.
He highlighted programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, which are intended to improve household incomes, support enterprise development and strengthen economic empowerment at the grassroots.
He called on NRM members to remain united and actively participate in the electoral process, stressing the importance of grassroots leaders in connecting communities to government programmes and services.
The village baraza also provided an opportunity for residents to interact with the NRM mobilisation team and discuss issues affecting their community, as the party continues its nationwide mobilisation campaign ahead of the Village Women Council and LC I Chairperson elections.
Speaking after his unveiling, Mr. Simon Eilu, the NRM flag bearer for LC I Chairperson in the area, pledged to serve as an effective link between the community and the government.
Eilu said that, if elected, he would work to ensure that the concerns and priorities of residents are communicated to relevant authorities while also helping the community access government programmes and services.
He further pledged to promote local development and improve service delivery by working together with residents, local leaders and other stakeholders.
The mobilisation activities in Soroti City West form part of the NRM's broader grassroots engagement efforts across the country, as the party seeks to consolidate support and prepare its structures for the forthcoming local council and Village Women Council elections.
The NRM continues to encourage its members and supporters to participate actively in the elections and vote for candidates who, according to the party, will strengthen grassroots leadership and support the delivery of government development programmes.
