President Museveni Kickstarts Kigezi Subregion Campaign Trail with Rally in Kisoro, Reaffirms Focus on Wealth Creation and Service Delivery

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially launched his Kigezi subregion campaign trail with a highly attended rally in Kisoro District, where he outlined key elements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto for the 2026–2031 term. Addressing thousands of enthusiastic supporters, President Museveni reaffirmed the party’s commitment to socio-economic transformation, improved service delivery, and wealth creation as the foundation of national development.

During the rally, President Museveni announced two major infrastructure commitments aimed at addressing longstanding service gaps in the district:

Electrification of Nyarubuye Sub-county:

The President noted that Nyarubuye is the only sub-county in Kisoro still without electricity. He assured residents that the next term will prioritize extending the power grid to this area to enhance local productivity and improve living standards.

Construction of a Health Centre III in Chanika Town Council:

In recognition of the health service needs of the community, especially in border areas, President Museveni pledged the establishment of a fully operational Health Centre III in Chanika. This will improve access to maternal care, outpatient services, and emergency health needs.

These projects, he emphasized, reflect NRM’s ongoing efforts to close service delivery gaps and expand equitable access to essential infrastructure across the country.

Wealth Creation Remains the Cornerstone of the Next Kisanja (2026–2031)

Even as he outlined upcoming infrastructure projects, President Museveni reiterated that wealth creation remains the central focus of his next term. He stressed that expanding roads, electricity, schools, and health facilities is important, but meaningful transformation happens when households create wealth and generate income.

He reinforced the message through video testimonies of ordinary Ugandans who transformed their livelihoods by adopting NRM-backed strategies. These included:

Successful farmers implementing the four-acre model

Youth benefiting from the skilling hubs

Families earning through enterprises supported by government programmes

Workers employed in factories launched across Uganda

According to the President, wealth—not merely jobs—drives sustainable development. Jobs are created when people engage in productive enterprises, whether in agriculture, industries, or services. He urged Kisoro residents to embrace modern methods, enterprise selection, and commercial farming so that every household becomes an active player in the money economy.

Kisoro District has historically been a stronghold of the NRM, consistently voting for the ruling party. President Museveni acknowledged this loyalty, calling on residents to once again give the NRM overwhelming support in the 2026 elections.

He emphasized that the government’s development agenda—rooted in peace, stability, and economic empowerment—can only continue effectively when voters choose leaders committed to long-term transformation.

The Kisoro rally marked the first stop in President Museveni’s campaign tour of the broader Kigezi subregion, which includes Kabale, Rubanda, Kanungu, and Rukungiri districts. The region, known for its political vibrancy and strategic importance, will host several engagements where the President is expected to:

Reaffirm NRM priorities for 2026–2031

Highlight government achievements over the last term

Mobilize communities around wealth creation initiatives

Engage local leaders, elders, youth, and women groups

President Museveni concluded his Kisoro address by reminding Ugandans that the NRM’s long-term development journey requires continuity, discipline, and adherence to principles of socio-economic transformation. He urged families to be active participants in building wealth and shaping the future of their communities.

“Vote NRM like you have always done,” he appealed, reiterating that the government will continue delivering the infrastructure, programmes, and support systems needed to uplift every Ugandan household.
