Roads, Health Units and Industrial Growth: President Museveni Outlines Vision for Kyegegwa

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday afternoon addressed a highly attended campaign rally in Kyegegwa District, where he outlined key government commitments aimed at accelerating development, job creation, and service delivery in the region. The rally—one of several held on the day—drew residents and local leaders eager to hear the President’s plans for infrastructure, health, and economic transformation.

Road Works to Begin Immediately

President Museveni assured the people of Kyegegwa that the road network in the area remains a top priority. He revealed that government has already engaged a contractor for the Kazo–Mpara–Kyegegwa–Hapuyo road, a critical transport corridor for farmers, traders, and local businesses.

“We are moving quickly on this issue. A contractor has been secured, and this road will be worked on without delay,” the President said, noting that improved road access is essential for boosting trade, linking communities, and supporting agricultural commercialization.

New Health Centre IIIs to Improve Rural Healthcare

In response to community demands for better health services, President Museveni announced plans to construct Health Centre IIIs in Kyatega, Hapuyo, Kakabara, and Mpara. The facilities are expected to ease the burden on the district’s existing health infrastructure and ensure wider access to maternal and general healthcare.

He emphasized that improving local health services is central to government’s commitment to human capital development, ensuring that families remain healthy and productive.

Major Industrial Park and Avocado Project to Boost Job Creation

One of the rally’s major announcements was the government’s acquisition of 10 square miles in Kyaka for the development of a large industrial park and a commercial avocado farm. The President explained that the park will attract factories and value-addition enterprises, creating jobs and transforming the local economy.

“These investments will lead to real, sustainable jobs for our young people,” President Museveni said. “Industrial parks are the backbone of value addition and will help us stop exporting raw materials cheaply.”

The avocado project, he added, will position the region as a key player in high-value agricultural export markets.

Jobs Come From Wealth Creation, Not Government Payroll

In his address, President Museveni reiterated a message that has shaped his campaign trail: employment comes from wealth-creating sectors—not government offices. He highlighted four pillars of job creation: commercial agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, and services.

“That is why we are commissioning factories, supporting small enterprises through Emyooga, and preparing to introduce a fund for unemployed graduates,” he noted. The he said, will empower young people to start income-generating activities instead of waiting for formal jobs.

Commitment to Grassroots Prosperity

The President encouraged residents to embrace the government’s ongoing programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and agricultural value chains tailored to high-income ventures. He reminded the gathering that national transformation is built on individual and household wealth, combined with infrastructure and peace provided by the government.

A Rally Marked by Optimism and Development Promises

The Kyegegwa rally was marked by enthusiastic crowds and a strong sense of optimism about the district’s future. With new infrastructure commitments, expanded healthcare, industrial development, and youth empowerment initiatives, President Museveni positioned the district as a key beneficiary of the NRM’s broader agenda for socio-economic transformation.

As the campaign trail continues, the President is expected to reinforce similar themes across the region—emphasizing stability, industrial growth, and inclusive development as the pillars of Uganda’s next phase of progress.
