Strong Grassroots Key to NRM Success, Dombo Tells Bugisu Leaders

MBALE CITY – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Director of Communication and Publicity, Hon. Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, has intensified the party's grassroots mobilisation drive in the Bugisu sub-region, meeting leaders from Mbale City's Northern and Industrial divisions as preparations gather momentum for the forthcoming Village Women Council and Local Council I (LC I) elections.

Leading the NRM Secretariat mobilisation team in the Bugisu sub-region, Dombo convened a strategic meeting that brought together District Executive Committee (DEC) members, division leaders, chairpersons and other party officials to align on mobilisation strategies aimed at securing victory for the party at the grassroots level. 

The meeting forms part of a nationwide mobilisation campaign by the NRM Secretariat, which has deployed senior party leaders across the country to strengthen party structures and ensure effective coordination ahead of the village elections.

Addressing the leaders, Dombo underscored the importance of unity, discipline and teamwork, urging party members to put aside personal differences and work collectively in support of all duly elected NRM flag-bearers.

He described the Local Council system as the bedrock of the NRM's political organisation, noting that strong village leadership is essential for sustaining the party's influence and ensuring effective service delivery to citizens.

"The strength of the NRM begins at the village level," Dombo told the leaders. "Our success in future elections depends on how organised, united and active our grassroots structures remain. Every leader has a responsibility to mobilise support for the party and its candidates."

He challenged leaders to intensify mobilisation through the upcoming sub-county meetings and village barazas, saying the engagements provide an opportunity to reach more party supporters, explain the importance of participating in the elections and reinforce the message of the NRM National Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Dombo stressed that every NRM member should actively participate in the electoral process and encourage communities to vote for the party's candidates in both the Village Women Council and LC I elections.

He further called on party leaders to remain vigilant, organised and focused throughout the election period, emphasizing that unity within the party would be critical to delivering victory across the Bugisu sub-region.

The mobilisation meeting also provided a platform for local leaders to discuss strategies for strengthening party structures, improving coordination among grassroots leaders and ensuring smooth mobilisation activities in all villages within Mbale City.

The ongoing countrywide mobilisation campaign has seen senior NRM Secretariat officials dispatched to different sub-regions to engage party leaders, monitor preparedness and encourage active participation in the grassroots elections.

The Village Women Council and LC I elections are regarded as a crucial stage in strengthening the NRM's grassroots leadership, with the party seeking to consolidate its support base through well-organised village structures that serve as the foundation for future electoral success.

As the election calendar progresses, NRM leaders in Bugisu have pledged to intensify mobilisation efforts, conduct extensive community engagement and ensure that party supporters turn out in large numbers to participate in the forthcoming elections, reaffirming the party's commitment to maintaining strong and vibrant grassroots leadership across the region.
