HRH Constantine Mwogeza Butamanya to Pay Historic Visit to the Umukuuka of Bugisu

In a landmark moment for Uganda’s traditional leadership, the Chairman of Traditional and Cultural Leaders of Uganda, His Royal Highness (HRH) Constantine Meatyansozi Mwogeza Butamanya

, will make an official working visit to the Umukuuka wa Bugisu, Uwelukoosi Umukuuka III Jude Mike Mudoma, on Saturday, March 22, 2025. This visit, set to take place at Maluku, marks the first time the Isabaruuli of Buruuli is officially engaging with the cultural leadership of Bugisu, signifying a major step toward unity and cooperation among Uganda’s cultural institutions.

HRH Mwogeza Butamanya, the leader of the Buruuli Cultural Institution, also serves as the current Chairman of the Traditional and Cultural Leaders of Uganda, a position that places him at the forefront of fostering collaboration among Uganda’s diverse cultural leadership. His acceptance of the invitation to visit the Umukuuka of Bugisu underscores the growing recognition of inter-cultural dialogue in promoting development, heritage preservation, and social harmony.

The Institution of the Umukuuka wa Bugisu, which represents the Bagisu (Bamasaba) people, has long been a pillar of cultural heritage in the Eastern region. The visit is expected to strengthen ties between the Bagisu and the Baruuli communities while fostering discussions on mutual interests, including cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and development programs within Uganda’s traditional leadership framework. 

Ahead of the visit, Uwelukoosi the Umukuuka has extended an official request to senior government officials to be present at Maluku to welcome HRH Mwogeza Butamanya.
